I need to get hold of Dell but i have what seams to be a serial number not a serivce tag.

There online need this and won't work and no other way to get hold of them!

There are so manny number!

It's in regards to a warranty clame i need to make
 
If you bought a Dell LCD monitor you might not have a Service tag, but you should have an order/customer number. When you phone them the first thing they will ask for will probably be the service tag, just explain you only have a monitor and no tag and they should put you through to the right bit. I just recently had to phone about my monitor and it all went smoothly and is being replaced tomorrow (hopefully).
 
i think they need the 7digits that come on the box.


normally called a work number if purchased from Dell.

i had to climb up in the loft to retrieve my box to get the number dell were after.

Called them, tipicaly got through to sodding India. First bird was crap so i called again and i got a really cool decent guy in Tech, still Indian.

He was so polite.

ANyway he took serial, said i got it off bay 6 months ago and now it won't power on.

He's gone to check the warranty and will call me back in 15 mins but has said about sending out a new replacemnt one which is cool

Guess i'll have to wait

Apranty the owner befor me ordered it from Norway!!!!!!!

if you ever get through to the Indian guys, just tell them can you please put me through to monitor support, even if he asks for service tag, just insist on it. It will save you a LOT of time.

good luck with the replacement,

i am now about to go through my 3rd new replacement, both my screens suffer from pinkish whites which is annoying since they are sending me out new not not refurbished ones.

Have a look at this thread about pinkwish whites on the 2407.

I followed this guide and I've got perfect whites now. :)
 
Humm i called them,

He called back and was chatting for 40 mins

Then he said i speak with my manger on sending you a new one and i will be 15 mins

Not had anything for an our at least now and they close at 8!!
 
Erm, never trust any indian call center guy who says that. They usually do not get back to you. Sometimes they will even lie just as in uk call centers to get you through the system quickly. (im indian btw)
Instead if they say ill ring you back say you are willing to wait and also make sure you get their name so when you call back you can say who you want to be put through to.
 
wow...I had to call up Dell today about my two 1707`s (one panel is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off colour wise from the other) first lady asked for my service tag, I said it was a monitor and started to give her the Serial. she said she`d put me through to monitor support, held for 5mins got put through and the guy on the other end said it was the Axim (spelling?) support :S

another 10mins on hold and I got a guy who got my details and called me back and basically VNC`d to my pc and messed (read: surgically tweaked) about with some settings and said he couldn`t go anything else without the service tag number - even though I gave him the full serial numbers :S*2

Take II tomorrow with the number below!

i think the service tag is diff. to your serial number.


if you bought it from OcUK it'll be on your box. 7 digits long i think.
 
Round 2!

Called Dell oh yet again, options 1 then 5 i think i did. Then asked for moniter surport.

Got through to someone in the UK.

Shes checking the log and making arrangements and gonna call me back which is sweet
 
RESULT

Spoke to this hot scottish chick called Christine

Am having a onsite collection and return of a brand new unit via Uncife corrier

Any time 1pm to 5:30pm tomorrow.

Was on phone to her for half hour just chatting about this and that!

She was amazing, so much so i blaged her e-mail addy hehhe. Shame she lives in Glasgow but it's a nice drive i guess.

I'm happy with Dell more so as....

There pulling all the Indian call centers, she was telling me as they cost of call backs but complants is too high to show Dell offering a decent service!
