Simple - I'm interested in people's opinions. Steroids are evident in most sports now, from Mr McGuire in Baseball to Football, track and field and wrestling (Hey, I had to get it in somehwere).

On top of that, the recent availability of human growth hormone ofcourse, expensive as it is!!!

I personally quite approve of steroids under certain circumstances - it's a personal choice and all that. Speaking competitively though, I disapprove completely and agree that ALL athletes should be reguarly checked.

Anyone else want to chip in?

What about HG/Insulin/D-Bol/Sust/Decca stacking. Serious stuff and does scary things to you possibly. Are these risks calculated and smart? Or are you playing with your health and life?

Discuss... :)

Muscles fill up with crap?

Only if you are oil filling for false peaks. Steroids and HGH have different effects, but most if not all are simply there to produce testosterone and allow your muscles to take in more protein, recover quicker and allow you to work out harder.

Cheating yourself? Depends on what you are aiming for. If you can grow and maintain your body, then why not? A lot of people take roids not for strength but for either gaining size or stripping fat. If you can maintain the shape after the course has left you, surely it is now your work? Call it a push start...

The defence puts forward the statement:

Assuming the risks are minimal, using roids is simply helping nature speed along.

Discuss more.

Why should it be strange that I approve of steroids? It's a personal choice thing as far as I'm concerned, barring roid rage, it hurts no-one but yourself. No worse than smoking etc....

To say that WWE don't use steroids is somewhat naive. The guys on there train long and hard, and work long and hard ot do what they do, but people the size of Hunter, Batista and Scott Steiner don't just pop out fomr the floorboards I'm afraid. Even Rey Jr has got A LOT bigger since joining WWE.

Steroids are a way of life in many sports, but these sports (and the ones I think it's fine in) are those that are based around looks and are non-athletic competitively. Wrestling (Pro), bodybuiding, and to a lesser extent MMA.

What's so bad in wanting to look your absolute best? Would you tune in to WWE if their world champion was fourteen stone? Probably not. I've seen (and met) a lot of those guys and you don't realise just how big they are. Even people like Hurricane and Matt Hardy are 17+ stone - but they are standing next to the immense sizes of Kanes and Takers, so don't look so big.

I disagree here. Would Arnie have won Mr Olympia so many times without a decent intake? What about Dinosaur Davis? It depends on your perception of "best" there are two "bests" in my opinion - natural and assisted. It's a choice which one you go for.

you can still compete and be the very best in the work and not take steroids. look at paula radcliff

Totally agree. I'm not a fan of roids enhancing performance, but I think that enhancing looks is a different matter. Why shouldn't I risk my own health if I need to put a stone on as my own metabolism has trouble accepting weight gain? (This is just an example BTW...). Or if I want to speed up the fat burning process? Or I'm off on holiday and want to look super buff on Muscle Beach?

To be honest, I kind of find that view very narrow minded. What about smokers? Drinkers? Their abuse is MORE likely to kill them and more likely to effect others directly, ignoring the obvious health risks.

Roids are neither addictive nor passive. And if I make the choice ot take roids, knowing the risks, how is that a bad thing? That's like condemning every biker out there or extreme sports enthusiast, or many other poeple who take calculated risks for enjoyment in their lives.

I thnk roids are a very misunderstood part of sports, personally. Like all other drugs, if you abuse steroids then you'll get whats coming to you, much like drink, baccy, or anything a little more illegal. At the end of the day, steroids are prescribed by doctors to help asthma sufferers abnd more, and HGH is given out on prescription to long term injury sufferers. The kind of doses and courses they give out are the same that a sports user may use. Whats the difference? Personal morals and no more. thats up to the user surely?

This is a great thread :) !

Either get training with us if you're not already trained, or give us a mail asking for work if you are. There are now five NWA-UK facilities - Kent, Coventry, Dublin, Cork and Sheffield.

Jody was originally an NWA-UK wrestler, trained by us, but jumped ship a few years ago for various reasons.

Well mail me directly if you're thinking of Cov - it's Psycho and myself that are head trainers there!! From your location, you may want to come to the first show we're putting on as a training school/promotion (Midlands Pro Wrestling) in south Wales January 4th.

Well said that Dog! As long as you know what you're messing with and have Clom or Nov nearby for when your sex drive stops working....

Cyrus - dunno bud. I would say most of them if I'm honest at some point in their careers.

Edna - I can't believe your ill-informed comments are serious! You are indeed a taxpayer -what about the evil people out there who drink alcohol? Those bloodthristy smokers! Cast them out of the hospitals!!! That is a very elitist attitude you have there my friend. If someone is taking roids, chances are they are looking afetr their body twenty times more than your average couch potato who throws fat and salt down their gulletts every day.

Why should I pay for Joe Average's heart problems and anemia when I take great care of myself? Why should I pay for all you footballer's sports injuries?

I congratulate you on competing and beating a chemically assisted athlete. That's not what the thread is about. We are talking non-competitive here.

If I choose to take roids, then thats my choice. I am NOT completely stupid, and should I ever decide to take them, then I would consider that an extremely insulting comment.

As for your claim that you can beat anyone at anything on roids, that is just ridiculous.

I have talked at length to biomedics and chemists as well as GPs about steroids, as a friend of mine was on them due to her ashtma. The conversions went to illegal roids and cycling and they clued me up a lot. The GP, however, knew next to nothing about them and wouldn't know a D-Bol/Sust stack if he stepped on it - however, he did take a lot of information from the clinicians and used it to great effect.

I just said that people like me have to help to pay for the care of people that take steroids. I didn't say anyone should be thrown out of hospital.

And I responded by saying we pay for people that drink, smoke, play sports, so why single out Steroid users?

If you think you can take care of your body whilst taking steroids I suggest a long talk with a medical professional, you clearly have no idea what you are on about.

Did you read the thread? I know an AWFUL lot about steroids. From medical professionals and other sources. If you take the time, you will see I clearly know entirely what I am on about. Remember - medical professionals prescribe steroids!

No it is not, and yes, you would be completely stupid to take them.

Why is taking roids not my choice? Who should have control over what I put in my body except me?

Your blinkered view here is beginning to be slightly insulting to me, TBH, as I have structured a decent debate here and you are responding by insinuating stupidity on the subject. Feel free to debate, but a stubborn refusal and aggressive words are not adding anything here. In response, I would NOT be stupid to take them, I would only be stupid if I approached the subject without investigating the facts and getting clued up on it. But that counts for all subjects, doesn't it?

Why would you take steroids if you weren't competeing at something, unless they were prescribed for something.

Again, if you had read the thread, it is a personal choice on your physical attributes being improved. Those who want to look a certain shape or size.

The amount of people standing up for the use of this stuff is disturbing...........

Those that are standing up for it are open minded and pro-choice, why is that so bad?

Majik

Excuse me? I am not your Son for a start.

Talk to someone? Do you read anything at all? Try scrolling up once in a while and READ!

So far you have offered nothing but your own stubborn opinion that steroids are bad, backed up by nothing. From your argument so far, I would suggest your good self as being the wee boy.

Your obstinance on this is aggravating. Kindly step out of the debate as you seem now to be trolling. My thanks.

edit - Obviously, my little rant is directed at Edna. Thankyou Cliffy and PAz for getting us back on track!

I've never taken steroids. Lets make that clear.

I am more than aware of what steroids can do.

However, please enlighten me on your knowledge. I'm dying to hear why they are so bad from your point of view.

And how is it cheating? If the user is not competing against anyone?

edit - In answer to questions from Edna: I've been taking creatine for two years in cycles. I've competed nationally at shoot fighting, and I'm an internationally known pro wrestler.
