Convertable for 10K??

For touring an S2000 would do my nut in, get something bigger than a two seater, much better to drive long distance imho.

My S is as comfortable as anything I have been in. I get out feeling more relaxed than I did in a 3-Series I used to go across South Africa in.

The MAJOR downside for an S is the lack of cabin/boot space. But you can work around that if your other half does not want to bring her hair-dryer(s)/hair straighteners and 10 pairs of shoes :D

I managed to fit a LOT into mine to go to England with. Full sized duffel, laptop, camera, 3man tent, large sleeping bag, tripod, full set of poly bushes and came back with more.. 12 litres of detailing stuff along with bottles, cloths/towels etc.

No automatic obviously but the S2000 is not as "racy and hardcore" as you might expect - drive it like it should be and sure. but it is more than civilised should you wish to use it that way.

It's the best looker in its class imo too, but then I am bias :D

The best merc convertible you can find for the budget, whether this is an SL or not depends on how old they are willing to go.

"they wish to use it for touring to places such as italy", nothing much better to do that kind of thing in an SL mercedes...but if that too old then get a lower range newer model.

Z4 is not comfortable - the ride is rock hard and autos are quite rare. BMW wise a 330Ci may suit but avoid the Sport and go for a nice SE auto.

I swear our Z4s must be totally different or something. :D

My missus commutes all the time in our (auto) 3.0si Z4, even when it had runflats. Not a single moan about bumps at all. Now I've replaced the tyres with non runflats the ride is even better.

I certainly would never have described it as rock hard. Maybe you're just too used to that sofa like 530i? ;)

I thought the Z4 was very comfy too - certainly not a crashy/hard ride. I'd happily do long distances in one.
