Cooking a steak.

Stupid question, do you put any oil in the pan/griddle or just 'use' the oil you've put on the steak before putting it in?

The oil on the steak is usually enough. Too much oil and it'll pop and spatter in the pan.

Too late. You cant even go to ASDA. They close at 10.

Would like a steak too. Might get a few when I finish work tommorow at 5.

The cat sitting infront of me is looking mighty tasty right now :(

I like my steak, fillet, left overnight in some JD and seasoning then cooked and basted in butter 1-2 mins per side.

The rule I go by when cooking steaks is that every steak takes 10 minutes to cook, no matter how well done you have it.

Rare = 30 seconds each side and leave to rest for 9 minutes
Medium-rare = 1 minute each side and rest for 8 minutes
Medium = 90 seconds each side and rest for 7 minutes
Medium-well = 2 minutes each side and rest for 6 minutes
Well done = 3 minutes each side and rest for 4 minutes.

Always seems to work for me.

So they all end up cold apart from the well done.
Lovely.
Steak must suck at your place.

Waiter: "How would you like your steak, sir?"

Me: "Take off the horns & wipe its a***."

Why ruin a perfectly good steak by cooking it!?!?

Had a 32oz "King of the road" steak at a local pub tonight. I can barely move.

Why they give you salad and peas is beyond me.

Its so worth it though! :p :D

I had a 32oz 'Bellybuster' steak on my 16th birthday - had pestered my dad for it everytime we went to this place.

Anyway, this was before I knew about steaks (other than I liked them) and I had it medium well.

I had to give up with a piece of meat about 3 inches by 3 inches because I couldn't chew any more! :)

Have you never noticed that when your served steak its warm at best never hot, and your supposed to wrap in tin foil and leave somewhere warm so its not gonna loose all its heat.
