Cooking with Jonny69: CURRY!!!

wow - this really works.
I made a pork n mushroom curry and it was fantastic.
looked and tasted like something we have had in an Indian restaurant.

the girly found it a little hot - I didn't have any cream or yoghurt in to cool it down.

the best thing about it that you know exactly what you put in instead of trying to read the way too small writing on a jar.

now I need to work out how to make the base into a Dhansak and I will even more happy :)

many thanks Jonny69 :)

I only use one site for curry recipes - http://www.cr0.co.uk. If you've got a spare Sunday then cooking up a batch of base sauce is certainly worth it. I normally cook enough for 20 curry's then freeze it in individual portions. That way you can cook the curry in less than 30 mins and it's normally a similar sort of standard to that of a takeaway, if not better.

I'll post up some results when I get a job and can afford to buy all the ingredients to cook up another batch.

Do you have to sign up to see the recipes on that site Slime?

Sorry, yes you do. But it's free and worth it. I haven't really looked anywhere else since and there's some brilliant recipes and tips on there. It seems the majority of members prefer hotter curries like Madras, Vindaloo etc.

A good place to start is with this. It's easy to follow but does take a little bit of time. Start with the the Update Part 1 pdf, the most important sections being the spice mixture and curry gravy recipes. :)

Apologies for bumpage, but I just had to post and say how good this recipe is! I've just finished chowing down with the family and everyone loved it. :D

It's extremely easy to make, and I followed the original recipe pretty closely (the only difference was the amounts of seasoning and spice, and I added some double cream). Absolutely delicious, thanks! :)

IF anyones interested in curries at the moment , not to steal away from this fantastic looking dish but gordon ramsey is doing a show at the moment on channel 4 called Gordon's Great Escape, basically travelling india and going back to basics with curry and learning how to cook some damn yummy ones aswell :D

Say hello to my inspiration for trying this curry! :D Yesterday's episode was absolutely fantastic, and I'm hoping for more of the same. It's easily the most inspiring cooking programme I've seen, and I love my cooking!

I'm quite enjoying that programme but they seem to be showing it every night rather than once a week at the same time. How annoying is that?

I used this recipe when I cooked a curry just before christmas.

In fact I printed the forum and stuck it on the inside of the cook book for future reference. I went with a beef madras so the only differences were the amounts of spices and I cooked it in a slow cooker.

10/10. It went down a treat :)

Tried your recipe tonight Johnny and found the initial taste was ok, but the after taste being a lttle harsh for me. The same harshness was there when I added the paste to the wok so I'm guessing I need to alter that a little. For now, I think I'll add a touch of yogurt or something to sweeten the flavor a little.
