Hi,

ATM I have a arctic pro cooler 64 and no other fans for cooling.....

I have a amd 64 3500 newcastle which as you know like to heat up....

Unfortunately I cannot see where I in my case I can add extra fans but I feel that I need some 80mm's in there quick well I think 80mm's is the right choice?

So please help me figure a way out how to make this possible?

If you think I can make this possible, please recommend what I need?

Thanks for any responses I recieve

Cheers!

Really old and knackered case? It should have mounts at the low front and the mid back for 80mm fans.

It'll help exaust the heat from your system from the rear and will provide force fed air over your storage drives which should be getting toasty with no airflow.

:Edit: rest of system specs?

Yeap spot on with "homes" for fans

AMD 64 3500
Asus A8V deluxe mobo
4 x 256 ram sticks
nividia 4600 ti
2 x HDD IDE

Could u suggest some suitable fans or will any do?

What kind of drop in temp can I expect to see? A couple of degree's?

The drop in temps depends on if/how much you're overclocking. The akasa ambers on here are great fans, very quiet. What's your system/cpu temps at the moment?

cpu temp = 56 - 57 deg
mobo 36 deg

I overclocked my system from 2200 to 2420mhz (220 *11 @ 1.6v 5/3 333 div)

Briefly Im unsure whether adding more fans will help me increase the fsb to 230?

Will any 80mm fans do or do I need specific ones?

You need more fans man, that's a high temp (For my liking) 60 is DANGER ZONE. You ideally want to be under 50 at full load. Get some of those akasa ambers in pronto, although any'll do. Those one's are very quiet for the amount of air they shift. Don't een think of ocing more until you've got those temps down :p

akasa do loads of fans....can you recommend some pls from the akasa fan section?

Does the RPM matter? Am I looking for a high RPM and low DBA

What about output am I looking for a high CFM or a low CFM??

anything else to look for when buying one?

It depends, if you're after a lot of air then it'll be noisier. To be honest the third fan down is what I'd get, nice and quiet and shifts enough air too. If you don't mind noise then ditch the akasa idea and look for high CFM - have a look at the noisy but beefy vantec's and delta's :D

As Zefan said get the amber 8cm, I have four in my rig and they are good. Low noise and do shift air well. This is the model no:
Akasa AK-182-L2B Ultra Quiet 80mm Fan

whats do the diff sizes determines for example there are 80mm 120mm and others....

what should I aim for?

so lets say I got a 120mm and my case could only take 80mm how could I overcome this?

what is a top end 80mm?

firstly does your case have mounts for fans? there should be space for fans at the back with vents? also does your case have a side window panel with space for another fan?

A good 80mm fan would be any of the Akasa crystal coloured fans, i use 3 of them and they do a good job of keeping the case cool, there £3.47 each and move 32.4cfm of air. They plug into the 3 pin motherboard connectors - if your mobo doesnt have enough then you can get 3 to 4 pin adapters and run them directly off your psu.

but you need to check your case can have fans, if not then you may have to modify it/get a new case!

can get you a pic of mine if wanted?

What case are you using? Open it up and measure the fan mounts (usually 80mm or 120mm). Buy the right sized fans according to the measurements.

I have 2 places where I can definately fit 2 fans 1 at the back and 1 on the front lower end...

I doubt I can fix one on the side removal panel because there are no holes for the fan to screw into...

I'm unsure about the the case I have lol

After measuring the two places I can attach fans they are just under 80mm so I guess an 80mm will be fine....
