CoolIT ECO A.L.C. and Corsair H50 Comparison / Review

Nope, not sure what's going on, particularly with Jon.
He hasn't so much as said "boo" since he said he'd do a more rigorous/water-tight comparison.
Which was prolly over 4wks ago now.....

Oh you PM'd directly?
You must be just as anxious as me ;)
Thanks for the feed-back!
Give us a sign from the heavens Jon of your progress :-P

I'm surprised by that...

NorthQ's coolers are exact clones of the Asetek coolers* and Asetek's 120mm model is ordinary compared to the H50 as I recall.
Corsair did a few substantial mods to theirs, they didn't base it in entirely on the Asetek version.

*NorthQ themselves explained this to me, they even admitted they're sometimes a minor revision or two behind the Asetek version.

I think it is an older version, and still cannot find it, corsair is looking best to me at this time, but not sure if I'll get great improvement over the fenrir

None of them beat the best HSF's.....
Although I've seen evidence that some simple mods to the H50 can get close.
So the same could be applied to the Eco...

I'm personally prolly going to get the 240MM Eco ...
Once I see it compared with the LCLC 240mm, when I got it some modz will be in order! :)

The Corsair is made by Asetek (Logo on the H50 Box) but is made to strict specs by Corsair I believe.

IIRC, they use a different RAD, upgraded pump and better contact plate. Can't remember where I read that but is on the web somewhere.

Info there from the head honcho of Asetek ;)

I've used Asetek's old "WaterChill" and Vapochill" range extensively over the years (Back in the day LOL) and always found them very good performers with great reliability. Clearly Corsair wanted something extra :D

Its a good review but the Corsair H50 is 2 degrees cooler on the load temp ;)

In that particular test it did yes but there will be some variance.. lets face it, they both perform very similarly and neither is going to facilitate an overclock that the other cant.

You will notice however from the links above that we won a GOLD award and the H50 a SILVER based on our superior installation and the fact we blow hot air out of your pc instead of in to it. GPU's are toasty enough w/ out you blowing hot air off your CPU in your chassis.

There are situations where an intake is fine and we facilitate doing that if you want but the more responsible way to configure it out of the box is as an outtake which we have done. If you want lower temps w/ ECO, swap the fan around and blow cool air from outside through the rad and into your case... just make sure you have adequate outtake fans to take that heat out.

I've been considering puttnig a watercooling system onto my Q6600 CPU, as the box tempertaure maxes out at 41°C when I've been playing Fallout3 for a while (just dropped an ATI 5870 in there, which has upset the airflow inside compared to the old GTS8800), and i figure this would be a good way to reduce temps rather then drilling more holes in my case for more fans :p

from what's being siad, the Corsair seems to have more user reviews saying it's top notch... but is it £15 better?
The CoolIT is on offer this week at £52

It's a hard decision for me aswell, the noctua cooler is still cooler, but obv louder.... but I haven't seen anyone test any of the 2 water coolers with a noctua fan.. which is what I am tempted to do with the CoolIT as it is cheaper, still gets good reviews.. even though not as many, and it looks pretty similar to the corsair according to reviews

The corsiar is £15 better than the coolit on everything but amd so you will see the difference, tbh though, the megahalem with push/pull performs very close to the h50
