Another police car crash in the papers. Supposedly it's a super car, but wait, those wheels have a VW badge attached... What's that, it's a Golf R? Where do they get this kind of obviously wrong information from!?

If you read what other papers have written you can see how the DM has chopped up other peoples work and posted it as it's own.

Saw this a few weeks ago. I have no idea how the officer managed that in a Golf R.

A nice car for sure, wouldn't mind on myself

but no supercar. Maybe amongst the vdub scene it is

Read this on the BBC site and they didn't mention the price.

Its base price is £31k actually...spec it up and its £42k though.

How do you define a supercar? is a supercar only allowed to be a ferrari/aston/porsche/lambo (hypercar if you quote Clarkson)

I don't know much about the Golf R but I'd have to agree it's hardly a supercar, the only supercars VW/Audi make are the R8 and the long list of Lambos

BTW, whats everyones problem with the daily mail?

For their high speed pursuit team I'd imagine. Ever watch Police Interceptors on Channel 5? They have a fleet of Subarus, Evos, Focus STs etc.

Hehe not sure on the Golf R (tho I don't think it is a super car that is) but the Golf VR6 was technically classed as a super car...

tbh from my experience of modern golfs I sure wouldn't choose one for high speed pursuit driving... (stability control makes it difficult to drive agressively and with it off they have some lethal oversteer... which I guess he found out while testing). Ironic for a car aimed at the rally segement of the market.

The headline is totally wrong by the way. It was supposed to be "Possibly illegal immigrant police officer wastes £40k of his benefits trashing foreign car!"
