Skeeter makes an interesting point though. It's too small to get regular RPU kit in and too expensive/overpowered for the usual duties small cars are used for. It's one of the reasons the new impreza didn't really take off with Police forces, it's just a bit too small.

According to Ferrari the 328/348/355/etc are not supercars merely sports cars (they class their Supercars as the F cars and GTO's). Are you saying that the VR6 is better than an Ferrari 355? :P
 
VW are trying to get the police to buy a bunch of cars. They lent them a Golf R to have a play in and some muppet crashed it. Big woop, no story there.

Trying to convince the world that the Gold VR6 is actually a supercar, now thats more like it!

Many many times its been placed in super car territory for its out of class performance, looks (subjective), engine noise and driving experience.

Its no "classic" supercar I don't think anyone could claim that but it does technically meet the criteria tho personally I don't think you can really have an "affordable" supercar.

my diesel vectra is faster than my old vr6 was. does that make my vectra Taxi a hypercar?

still not a bad buy for various police forces, 4wd plenty of grunt and it should be pretty reliable too. plenty of police forces had unmarked R32s as well for their RPUS
