Copying everything i do

Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Grow up tbh, your an uncle and a role model now so it's time to start behaving like an adult!!

God, i just need to vent somewhere, this is getting REALLY annoying!

My nephew who's only 13 copies everything i do. It's really annoying. My oldest sister and her husband only have the one child, so he is spoilt rotten. Anything he want's he gets, but everything he want's is stuff he's seen me do or buy. Only if they buy something it HAS to be better than what i have. I could go on for ages and make a list of things, but these are the things just within the last couple of months -

I'm such a geek for doing it, but i collect action-figures. Collectable ones though, that cost £14/£15 each. I have been collecting for about 3 years now. But recently, they (sister and her husband, i'll call them Mr and Mrs X) have been buying loads of figures for him. I mentioned to Mr X, that a new series of these Dragon figures from McFarlane look kinda cool, i had no intention of buying them, i just mentioned it. Then what did they get my nephew for Christmas? Every single Dragon figure you can get, amongst other figures.

Last summer i bought an electric guitar, just a cheapish one, to see how it goes. My nephew, who had never even mentioned having a guitar before, decided he wanted one. So what did he get for his birthday? A £300 guitar, with an Marshall amp. He hasn't played the damn thing since!

Just after Christmas, i went and bought a X360 with a 26" Samsung HDTV. They came round, said how great it was (well apart from my nephew saying things like "the blood on GoW looks pretty rubbish" and "Ive seen much gorier games than this" (talking about Dead Rising). But him and Mr X are avid Playstation fanboys, always dissing the 360 since it's release, saying how the PS3 will be better etc. So guess what? Just had a message off the nephew now on MSN saying "Guess what? I've got a 360 aswel "....along with a 32" HDTV it seems.

Should i say something? Or just leave it, because they will take offence and we won't see them for a few months (it's happened before with something else). Or am i just been childish?

Ahhh...i actually feel better i've said this now

;)

Pfft beat me to it ;)

Takes up smoking and drinking
Get a girlfriend
Get a Car

Or here's a plan.

You want something you can't afford ? ie, new HiFi ?

Sent him a pic of a Chord amp, B&W speakers, pretend you just got it. Wait until he get something that beats it. Then offer him £500 for it :D

start collecting p0rn :)

oh and get a fit looking bird and take her home as often as not :)

Also tell him how free you feel when masturbating in front of guests.

That should sort it out once and for all. ;)

(The advice given herein should not be taken seriously.......... well maybe)

It maybe that your sister sees you as a role model and what pleases you may please her child, so i don't see any harm with that.

You will meet people in life that have to go one better than yourself, but don't let it get to you, they will either run out of money, or will see it's pointless trying to keep up.

Anyway got to go now, I'm picking up my new Ferrari, 42" LCD TV, PS3, Fender Stratocaster, Fender Amp :D

Tell him you won the lottery, then watch him develope an addiction to gambling whilst trying to better your mighty feat. Eventually he'll have to sell everything he owns to fund the habit.

The fact he's 13 doesnt matter, im sure his parents will buy the lottery tickets for him.

To be honest, I'd be more irritated that the kid was being spoilt rotten by his parents, and obviously won't be learning the value of money.

I'd try to teach the parents a lesson... hire out a 50" plasma TV for a week when they come round and see if they can better that ;) If they are stupid enough to get him one of those then they deserve the hit in the pocket.

Either that or strike a deal with the kid to get two of everything in future :)

meh. start watching horror DVDs and yakuza films.. 13 year old kid surely cant take the gore on that... if he refuses to watch or sounds like he hasnt watched it call him a chicken for it.

I have to agree with the above.

I have the same issue with a kid in my class at uni.
I bought a TT, he got his dad to buy him one.
I bought a watch, he bought a fake copy
I bought a flat, he got his dad to buy him a flat in the same building
I setup a media center jukebox , he did the same

Probably just coincidence but it does not bother me one bit lol

Train him as your sith apprentice, and together you could rule the galaxy :D

Seriously, turn him into your vision of the perfect person!
