Core 2 Duo E6300 - A little teaser (dial-up be very careful....)

The fastest time for current systems on weescotts proven record chart is 23 seconds

http://www.weescott.co.uk/pi.asp

The fastest opteron was 24 secs at 3.47ghz

I think people are saying the 1m time is not so relevant to real performance now as it fits into the cache too easily, 2m or 8m stretches it more

id agree with that. it wasnt untill recently that i couldnt figure out why my 2mb times was a fair amount more than dobuel my 1mb time, which is what it should be. Its because 2mb doesnt fit in the cpu's cache, of course lol

KITT could you be kind enough to run this quick video test to give me some idea of what to expect as I work with video/transcoding a fair bit....

Download and install DivXtoDVD http://www.wam77.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/vsodivxtodvd0.5.2b.zip 2.35Mb. Run the program and leave everything at default and then convert this 100meg Clip http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XMKW2YEP (you will have to enter a given code then click 'download'). Please let me know Time, FPS and rate. Cheers

Anybody else is welcome to try the test and leave there results. It's single threaded so will only test one core but will still give me a good idea of raw performance.

I know that program, its a good one and easy to use but its such a pity its single threaded. Windows media maker and virtualdub are multi threaded I think but they dont output direct to dvd :/

It doesnt allow multiple instances but I got two versions to run at the same time which is something at least
