Core i7 920 Stepping D0

I to am also interested in the new D0 stepping model i7 920.

I am waiting patiently to get a hold of one, as I have already got everything else for the build (Gigabyte EX58-UD5 mobo, 6GB Corsair Dominator 1600MHz RAM, the Zalman 1366 bracket for the 9700 NT HSF, and I will use my existing case, PSU, and GTX280 graphics card, and all my current HDD's and optical drives...)

I have read that these D0 stepping CPUs are already available, but I can't seem to find out anything about them from the e-tailers I use... only one site that I use from time to time for hardware list which batch of CPU's they have in stock, but their current ones are the C0/C1 B batch, and not D0...

I really prefer using OcUK for purchasing my hardware though, but I really want the D0 stepping model... Any information would be gladly appreciated....

I will be going ahead and purchasing an i7 920 around the middle of next month, hopefully by then all the C0/C1 stepping CPU's will be sold, and it will just be D0 models available...

With all you reading did you check what changes have been made to the D0 step? :p

But that's the fun of speculation! It's the excitement of "well they wouldn't just release a new stepping for such a small change" or "its gone from C to D so something big must have happened, they just haven't told us!"

And there are those who are speculative on the ambiguity of "The Electrical, Mechanical and Thermal Specifications remain within the current specifications." Which could mean many a thing.

Also don't forget the overclocking results from the one engineering sample on the web.

It's reasons like this why people may be interested in the specific stepping. Or they could just be thinking NEW NEW NEW NEW NEW!!!! ;)

I know my reason is that I went through a lot of hassle getting the bios of my Rampage II Extreme flashed so it can recognise d0 and intend not to make a bigger fool of myself by then buying a C0/C1 :P I shall retain SOME dignity!!! Though my patience is wearing thin.

try ringing ocuk to find out when they will be selling these chips, ive heard that they may be throttling these chips as the current ones are better than the extreme versions

They won't be able to give you an eta on them as they don't have a different product code to the old ones, its just as and when stock some through. Also some disties may get newer product before other etc etc.

this is very true, it is just pot luck at the moment when they hit the shelves, we all will be relyin g on word of mouth so hopefully we should see some soon

Unfortunatley the D0's dont have a different SKU from the older C steppings, unlike the 6600 G0's which had a new SKU. The S Spec is noted on the outside of the box however.

So it will mean overclockers will have to carefully check the boxes to see if they have the new ones.

Heat is more of a problem then overclocking overheads on these chips tbh, i cant see a revision really making a diffrence for the temps. I personly wouldnt worry about getting the D0 stepping.

Well, I am going to be purchasing my i7 920 next week, I am past caring whether I get a D0 or a C0 stepping model now, I just want my i7 rig up and running...

I could be waiting for ages before I get a D0 stepping chip, and I am not prepared to wait any longer!!!

i have to agree, my next pay check (2 weeks ) ill be buying a i7 chip no matter what stepping it is

Well the Q9550 'E0' too ages & ages to finally get over here in the UK.

I woudnt bother waiting, it's no big deal anyway.

Well...from the early results from across the pond, they seem to be as variable as the
C0's.....the best batch of D0's (from the limited info out there) seems to be the week
45B's....low voltages for 4.0 Ghz +
Also seems to be lower 'indicated' temperatures.
