So at least we now know that the memory type is going to be DDR 3. Is anyone going to get one when they're released? I've been waiting for the last year. I'm going to hopefully buy one around Dec/Jan and water cool it so with it coming out in October it should have the new water blocks by then (hopefully). Any ideas how much the extreme version will be when converted into £'s?

The big question is how much of an increase vs. a highly clocked Kentsfield and Yorkfield and whether they can clock as high.

Yeah I agree Trunks9486. I'm in a bit of a predicament at the moment though. I've been without a PC for 10 months now and it's killing me. I've been planning my system for the last year really solely basing it around Nehalem. My budget around Dec/Jan will be around £2500. I already have my case waiting, which is a Silverstone TJ07B-W and I'm getting it powder coated soon too.

I’m just thinking will Nehalem make a massive difference or would I be better building a system based on this year’s tech and having plenty of cash left over? I’m going to be water cooling all my system too so I want it to last me a long time. I still think it will be better to buy Nehalem and if I get it in Jan 09 at least it’s been tested a bit. I’ve never overlocked before too but I’m going to make that an inevitable task for me this time round.

I'am upgrading in March next year wanting a SLI MB to run my new 280gtx *2 "I have one atm", by then prices should be balanced for the 3.2 or 2.93 ghz version along with lots off main memory and possible new ssd's in raid HD "which should have went down in price and capacity should have went up". bank balance for new PC is going stronger.

looking forward to new setup :-)

Come on, this is shoddy. First you don't source where you got the information from, then you miss out important information (for instance the TDP of 130W quoted is when using Intel's Turbo Mode , hence nightmare99's confusion).

Most of the information mentioned above can be found here (in German), there are a few further references on the wiki page.

Who the hell do you think you're talking to?

That's where I got the info from you goon.

Someone that didn't quote their source initially. For all we know you could have pulled that from.... well

There are also more reputable sources (with more detail) where you could have actually got the information from than a site that appears to have been up for only two weeks :p

Then I suggest you go and patrol the forum to make sure that all sources are from "more reputable sources". I didnt see you post this, let alone post anything constructive to compliment OP. Plus I really wouldnt call wiki a reliable source of information, every one knows that.

You seem to be a very odd person. I was merely posting info I had read concerning Nehalem. Whether it was 100% correct or not, I felt by posting it, it may give us a few more details. I’ve been waiting for these CPU’s for the last year so I strongly doubt I’m going to just post waffle and post for the sake of posting. I didn’t provide the source initially because I don’t lie so I must have subconsciously felt it wasn’t needed. Please don't respond, you seem to be very uptight and clearly agitated about something.

I am interested in the information that the OP provided, however without sources its like someone coming on here and saying "my mate from Intel says blah blah blah". Not very credible, is it? :p

Plus I really wouldnt call wiki a reliable source of information, every one knows that.

But at least in this instance it referenced its sources ;)

We should start a sweepstake for how much the extreme will be when first stocked at OcUK.

My bet is £900.
