Core i7 Specs...

You seem to be a very odd person. I was merely posting info I had read concerning Nehalem. Whether it was 100% correct or not, I felt by posting it, it may give us a few more details. I’ve been waiting for these CPU’s for the last year so I strongly doubt I’m going to just post waffle and post for the sake of posting. I didn’t provide the source initially because I don’t lie so I must have subconsciously felt it wasn’t needed. Please don't respond, you seem to be very uptight and clearly agitated about something.

Thanks, not been called odd for a while

I appreciate that you say you would not post waffle or you would not lie, however I'm sure you can appreciate that there is a vast amount of FUD that appears on upcoming products. Perhaps I just have a thing against news with no sources *shrugs* :)

My pills are arriving now though, that should calm me down a bit. Won't stop be responding when I feel like it though, this is after all a forum where you can express your opinion on anything posted :p

We should start a sweepstake for how much the extreme will be when first stocked at OcUK.

My bet is £900.

But hang on, that's below the 1:1 dollar: pound ratio :p

Is the release date another indicator of Intel blowing AMD out of the water just after they've set sail? :)

Lewis, take your pills :P

There seems to be a *massive* difference in the price of the 800 and 700, despite the only difference I can see being 270Mhz clock speed. What's really to stop you just clocking a 700 up to 800 speeds and beyond?

Well I'm glad your pills are going to be with you soon.;) In future I'll make sure I list the source.

multiplier. meaning a 700 at 800 speeds will be louder and hotter than an 800 at the same speed

I do appreciate the information you've given by the way :) Makes me want to upgrade for folding, but I think the ball-and-chain might have something to say about that :(

No worries mate. Yeah I can't wait till they come out. Been without a system for a while now. I didnt want to spend no more than £450 on a cpu though.

The way we Britons get financially bum-raped in this sunny isle of ours, I'd imagine you wouldn't be far wrong replacing the $ with a £ :(

i agree, lots of times it pays off to know someone in the states to buy it and send it to you so you avoid any tax,

How can you make a processor louder

take of the IHS and turn the volume nob :D

and those specs show no diff between 800 and 900, but id bet the 800 would be £200 and drop to £150 after a bit...

the main question is, does anyone know if these will overclock well? IE AMD use intergrated mem controller and they dont overclock well atall, in this case it might not go past 3.4 or so, meaning a 3.6ghz+ would be same speed for probably £50 for a Q6600 :D

Is the maximum selectable value of the multipliers unlimited (within reason obviously) if they're unlocked? If the only difference between the chips is the multiplier, can you just up the multiplier if it's been unlocked?
