Core i7 Specs...

Hmm that 2.66 800 is looking pretty tasty for that price, unless we get screwed for price in the UK like usual

Still will need new mobo/ram/cooler for it which is the only thing putting me off it really

I'm curious how these CPU's are going to overclock. Currently on watercooling, and if they aren't overclockable by any reasonable amount, it brings water coolings value into question. Perhaps we'll see more people having GPU only watercooled loops instead of CPU only ones.

Damn - Ill be a university student (skint ass mofo) when these come out yet I'm desperate for one! I really don't know what I'll do - I guess less beer money and more saving?

2-300 on a new cpu
200 on a new motherboard
probably another 1-200 on ddr3 ram? (will that be required?)
and another 200 on GFX
and that'll require a more beefy power supply *gulp*

Insane price tags!

Yes apparently you need compatible DDR3 RAM, plus if you want to overclock you will need to buy a new (bigger) cooler.

I've never overclocked a piece of hardware to be honest as I've never really seen the point - If I'm lucky my current cooler will keep me going.

not sure wether to buy what is in sig now or wait for nehalem.

dont forget ddr3 is currently on 9-9-9 timings so wil be slowwww

That's what student loans are for :D

First thing I bought when my first loan payment came through was a new PC..

The website referenced by the OP indicates a special stealth mode!!! :D

The Core i7 have a INTELigent control of power. Inactives core use zero power. And this power is used on activ core with an automatic overcloaking.

45nm quads are native quads

No they arnt, they are still linked by FSB, they are a pair of Penryn dual cores in a single package.

There is a improved xeon, which has 6 cores, and is linked by a L3 cache, so it has virtually the same performance as a native, but its still made up with duct tape :P.

Nehalem is the first true intel "native" quad core processor.
