hi all

just downloaded core temp and its saying core 0 is at 40c and core 1 is at 31c, is this strange? im sure my hsf is seated correctly.

thanks,
ghgh

if its your 3800 as in your sig id say its not strange, cores arent identical and some will naturally run a bit warmer than another, plus also AMD are not that great at putting thermal paste on their dual core CPUs (underneath the IHS) and many people get values 3-10 degrees difference across cores, if your that bothered, cut the IHS off as per the sticky in the OCing forum and i think they will both be a lot closer, (and cooler ofcourse as youv'e gotten rid of a bit of pointless metal :p )

ridiculous temps tbh, i need to buy a new heatsink.

52c core 1, 56-57c core 2 running folding@home on both cores - 100% CPU Use. I'm not too bothered about it unless it goes above 65c or becomes unstable.

ghgh

what HS are you using at the moment?

artic cooling freezer 64 pro....but I snapped the fan off so I put an 80mm case fan on it for the meantime.

hmm those temps are pretty high, unless the 80mm fan is pants, although you have quite a high OC for a 3800+, are you using a lot of volts?

1.33v.

Some X2's are renowned for bad IHS contact (the metal on the cpu to the core not the heatsink. There is very little you can do about it unless you wish to remove the IHS.
