Correct voltages?

Hi, well I've got the CPU set to 1.55V in the bios, but in Windows Speedfan and CPU-Z is reporting the voltage on Vcore1 as 1.50V, is this accurate? As if so I've got some more voltage headroom to possible push my CPU further.

Thanks.

Yeah 1.5v in Windows is correct due to vdroop. It'll drop a little more under load.

How much more you have to play with depends on your load temps. And the latest CoreTemp would be a better indicator than Speedfan tbh.

So setting it to 1.6V in bios should be 1.55V?

Yeah most boards these days drop 0.05V from the selected BIOS voltage, would be interesting to see with a multimeter what the actual voltage is but 90% of boards seem to do it so I don't think CPU-Z is inaccurate.

So its ok if I put the voltage to 1.6V in bios as it should be 1.55V which is ok for my CPU? I just dont want to fry it.

What kind of load temps are you currently getting?

About 57-59, I'm fine with it going up to 65-67.

I dont know if I'll keep it at the higher voltage with higher clock but I am hoping I can get a higher clock and possible higher 3dmark.

I can't help feeling that the temps in your first post are very low. 25-27c at 1.5v and 3.4ghz seems way off, even if your ambient temp is low.

Is that 57-59c under Orthos/Prime95 or 3D Mark?

speedfan is fine, as big wayne told me:

"Coretemp is correct as is speedfan, the 15°C offset is only for newer chips (Allandale, G0 cores etc)."

1 other questions though, is the cpu tempterture the one at the top? Or what core 0 and core 1 say?

57-59 was Orthos.

Core 0, Core 1.

I'm idling at 30-31 degrees atm.

If CoreTemp reports the same as Speedfan under Orthos then you should be fine to push on.

But you may see a huge temp rise.
