Hi andy, Its running at 2T and doesnt like 2.5-3-3-6 at all. Does it matter which Stick goes into the first slot cause they dont like being swapped around!
For dual channel mode they should go into the 1st and 3rd slots (blue in colour) and my other 1gb corsair works perfect everytime and runs at 2-3-3-6 no worries but these are very tempremental :(

Good advise above .....it shouldnt matter which stick goes in the first slot not if there a matched pair , so they sound duff to me

Nope doesn't work, changed my DDR voltage to 2.7 saved bios then restarted into Windows fine. On next restart booted into bios and only changed the CAS latency down from 3 to 2 saved and restarted....nothing, the machine wont even boot or nout.
Put my old 1gb corsair xms in and hey presto boots up lovely and i can even change the Tras to 6, can i please have some confirmation that what ive just done is right and we can fairly assume that these sticks are dodgy?

Please can someone help me? I'm a complete memory noob

I have a ASrock 939Dual SATA2 motherboard and a athlon xp 4000+ sandiago.
I have Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-079-CS)

I am a complete noob when it comes to ram timings my mobo has them set on auto which im sure is slower than what the ram is capable of. the timings are currently
CAS latency: 3; RAS to CAS delay 3; RAS precharge 3; TRAS 8; TRC 12; command rate 2T and finally DRAM idle timer 16

what can I change these to and still have a perfectly stable system. I don't want to "overclock" the ram but I do want to run it at the optimal speed my ram is capable of. I would rather not have to change the voltage or anything like that if possible. I think I can change the cas latency to 2 or 2.5? but I am not sure

thanks for any help guys :) I really appreciate it.

:)

Andyr or anyone can we assume this and i can send the memory back?

The sticks you have are Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-079-CS) , if this is correct then you should get 2-3-3-6 @ ddr400 and i remember running that same board on tccd and it was happy at 2-2-2-5 so i recon you are justified in asking for a test of your ram

Thanks Andy, gonna send them back and see if they can get them running at 2-3-3-6 with no probs at all, also they arrived with sort of like scratches on the heat spreeders!

Ill let you know what they say, thanks m8

Make sure you get them to test the rated speed, cos the SPD is set at 3-3-3-8 so if they just stick them in a system and test as is, it won't replicate your problem.
