Corsair Carbide Air 540 Builds

if you're looking for something less flashy on coldzero site they have a "midplate" as well which gets rid of the ghastly bay drives below.

Ricardo's work is excellent as well very quick delivery too

A black midplate would certainly look very nice.
I can vouch for Ricardo as well. Lightbox came with a damaged LED strip, he sent a replacement straight away and I received it from Spain the next day!

Word of warning, the lightbox (and i presume the midplate) will require you to take out everything below the back 140mm fan including stand offs.

Any recommendations on best fans to replace the stock fans that came with this case and also the 2 stock fans that came with my H100i? I've had my 540 since July and still haven't got around to replacing the fans yet (had planned to straight away).

I'm thinking 3 120s on the front rather than 2 140s.

People recommend SP120s at the front. Better at pulling with the resistance from the dust filter.

Couldn't you say that about all dust filters? Not being argumentative, I've got SP120's on the front of mine but that's because there's a rad there. I always assume static pressure for rads only?

Yeah that what I was implying anyway. I read a very detailed analysis over at OCN and tried it out myself. Temps dropped by a few degrees so ive stuck with static pressure fans on dust filters since.

AF120's for the front, SP120's for the H100i, AF140 for the rear. All quiet edition.

Thanks, will order them soon :).

Any downsides to getting the LED versions? AF140 is out of stock here at the moment. I'm not ordering yet so it may be back in stock before I do.

Hi Matt,

The 540 Air Demciflex filter for the bottom is 148 x 313mm.

So this "should" work:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone SST-FF142B Magnetic Fan Filter - 320x155mm £5.99
Total : £8.96 (includes shipping : £2.48).

I finally got this and it fits. Problem is theres no way to make it stay there. Unlike the other filter on the front there are not any magnetic bits. I used sellotape for now, but it looks terrible. Luckily you can't see underneath the case and it doesn't show from inside. :D

I'm thinking of getting this case as the case I've ordered (760T) still hasn't turned up (from another site), I was just wondering if someone can advise me if the following components would have any problem fitting in this case.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-025-CS&tool=3

Apart from the above I also have 3 SSD's and 2 normal drives to fit in.
I realise there are a lot of components so would I have any space and heat issues?

2 HDD in the front hot swaps, 3 SSD caddy in the back above the PSU. Shouldn't be a problem for the drives, haven't looked at the links.

EDIT:

I've looked at your other components and see no reason why they wouldn't fit, standard stuff really.

@String Thanks mate, I was a little unsure as having 2 cards in crossfire and a sound card I thought they might be hugging one another increasing the heat and also because of the gfx cards length.

@skylineboy Thanks, I definitely plan on getting those corsair fans, especially after seeing some of the builds in here and I really love the black and red theme. I already kinda screwed that up by getting the white PSU but nobody will see that :D

ICEx21, post in the general hardware forum about compatibility of GPU's and soundcard. That's a Mobo issue more than a case issue. Just to make absolutely sure before you buy.

Sometimes sellotape is the only way! I used it to stick my LED's to inside of case lol

I pulled the filter out of the plastic and glued it to the underside of my case. I will give it a Hoover every time I clean it out but ideally I want to block it off with black plexi at some point

well here is mine so far...

going for something like this...

My 3 stock fans have started developing an annoying wobble/grinding noise - have checked each of them independently, and they're all doing it through the full range RPM on their fan controller. Slightly annoying :(
