gcaster, excellent question.

the apaches are very quiet but their performance on a radiator is very poor when compared to the GT fans.

the SP fans are very similar to the GT fans in rad performance terms.
there really wont be much in it.

both fans are loud at full chat [assuming you mean the 1850 GT variant] but in honesty, if you are watercooling a fan controller is essential.
 
I will add that the SP120 Quiet editions are my fan of choice.

Whisper quiet@12V and nice temps for everyday 24/7 use.

But I currently have the high performance edition SP120's fitted in push/pull and seem to have found the limit of the Antec Kuler920 cooling ability using a [email protected], stress/stability testing is getting close to the TJmax, I need something more manly for the job.

Been looking at getting some 140mm fans for top of my shinobi case to replace the 120mm currently sitting there. could have some winners here.
