I powered down my pc last night, when I came back into the room it had not powered down, it was turning on & off quite quickly I pulled out the socket from the wall, and tried to power it back up, now it turns its self off just before it should boot up.

Any idea’s please.

What psu was it? Assuming its the sig computer you were placing a relatively high load on it, so it's plausible that its died.

Second most likely is the motherboard.

Not exactly a standard choice of psu. I've not seen a testing review of that model, but coolermaster are rarely recommended on here. Regardless of its age, failing to post is likely to be the psu. Do you have a spare you could test with? If not, remove the gfx cards and see if it'll post. Under far lower load it's more likely to boot even if the psu is dying.

If the motherboard is dead diagnostics will be tricky. Try booting with one stick of ram, one graphics card, processor, no hard drives. You're hoping for a normal post sequence which ends by complaining that it cant find any boot media.
Next try booting with processor, motherboard and nothing else. You're hoping for beeps complaining that there is no ram, if it fails to beep it suggests the motherboard.

Be aware that if your psu has died, it may have died gracelessly, harming other components.

I have just hooked up an on/off & reset switch from old pc the system is working fine now looks like the touch sensitive switch is faulty.
I will have to RMA the case.

Thanks for the help JonJ678

That's really fortunate, I hadn't thought of that.

You're a lucky man, hope the postage back on the case doesn't sting too much.

I've been turning my computer on by shorting the contacts with a screwdriver...
