Cost efficient GPU upgrade?

What are the main differences between all the different brand and models of the 9070 and 9070xt? Some have quite a big price difference, is there a similar improvement in performance?
Not really a case of budget, more a case of getting value.
With the 9070, there's not much point buying a premium model, because you should just get the 9070 XT instead at those prices. I also would not want to buy one with the 16-pin, like Sapphire's Nitro or the Taichi.

From the 9070 cards available, I don't know what Acer's Nitro is like, it wasn't reviewed widely. The Prime models had good build quality, but again, the Evo wasn't available for review at launch.

I'd disagree with my learned colleagues above and say don't buy XFX, they always seem to cheap out on cooling.
Xfx seem to have learnt their lesson with the 9000 series, they're also now using ptm7950 on the core (so are everyone else TBF). Xfx actually have one of the better lineups for temps:

Sapphire Pulse cards also use ptm7950.. my 9070 has never seen over 60c even in the heatwaves we have had, and its pretty damn quiet even when I have ramped up fan speeds to ~2500rpm.

With AMD I always go with Sapphire, they've just been doing AMD cards longer than any of the others :)

Only issue with Sapphire Pulse is if you need 3x Display Ports, you wont get them. Pulse cards have 2x DP and 2x HDMI but thats never been an issue for me running 4 displays anyway.

Now is a terrible time to upgrade your GPU IMO. There's literally no other time I can think of when the price/performance landscape has been so bad.

My advice is to hold off and perhaps enjoy GTA6 on PS5 if that's your time of game. By next year we should have new GPU's from AMD and Nvidia that will be significantly faster than the current ones, which should also lower the prices on the current GPU's on the second hand market.

There's also the chance that the AI bubble has popped by next year, which would cause many to sell GPU's, again lowering prices.

I use one an Ncase M2 and it's quiet despite being a small case.

Ive had my Sapphire Pulse Since March last year. Its always quiet and temps are great. Can't fault it. Even in heatwave 35C weather its the same. Reccomend.

I too would avoid XFX wherever possible, they will always find a way to cheap out on a component here or there or used something lower specced if at all possible. I have personal experience of this. Having said that the XFX Mercury does seem to run cool and fast so maybe they've got their act together.

They've 'got their act together' with one card, which is good.

Historically though, they've been one to avoid. They've made some very poor products.

This very rarely works out that way. The last nvidia cards came in and just sat in the gaps between the next bracket of cards gradually jumping up 3 price tiers as time went by. And they also never really reduced the prices of older cards since the rtx 2xxx series.

Buy now or wait forever. I've a feeling they will try and push cloud gaming on us next gen so all these data centres that get cancelled will make some money back.
