Cost of Living - Shrinkflation is speeding up at an alarming rate

Maybe she doesn't need or want a credit score, maybe not into buying a property?
I'd say it shows a poor mindset that will get her in further trouble eventually regardless of the reason.

Its not my money I'm spending on the credit card so I don't care type of mindset that leads to ruin.

That's why I think credit cards should be 25+ and directly from your bank, credit cards seem quite predatory to me.

Nothing predatory in having an option to time shift my purchases to the end of the month for 0% interest, whilst also providing additional protection.

The only issue with credit cards is they are given to people who aren't disciplined with money, and likely couldn't afford whatever they are buying in the first place. They are no more predatory than mobile phone contracts, car finance or any other pay monthly scheme that enables people to feel entitled to have the latest iphone, AMG-Line Merc or whatever, just to "keep up with the Jones"

At 18 I was given a platinum card and yes I did think it was free money!!

I had a mate who got a credit card when he was eighteen.

Got himself into a few grands worth of debt through it, as you say, he had zero discipline.

Personally, I've never bought anything with a CC that I didn't have the money for.

credit cards wouldn't be free to those that always payed off, if they weren't subsidised by those that don't/can't, so could argue that's not so moral.
I'm probably subsidising these folks that need IT infrastructure for smarthphone internet banking 24/7 , with the low interest rate Santander now give.

What aisle these Oils/fish/breakfast cereal in, that the media outlets say, are now softening off on inflationary increase ,
media all parrot the same spiel without fact checking it
I thought olive oil crop was shot by the heat (haven't had much sun for the rapeseed in the uk either) , Ukkraine grain was a no go, and fish, well it's only Waitrose that still have a fresh counter.

Brought a bottle of coke from some shady little bar. They have given me this thing and charged me £2.50 for it!!

These are meant for mixers, 200ml iirc. You can also get 150ml cans, 250ml bottle, 250ml cans etc.

Seems that way.

Picked up a few things from Lidl today, coconut milk up 30p. Bleach only 10p cheaper than Sainsburys. With Lidl being a PITA to queue at, i'll suck the slight cost increase on most items to avoid going there. When you could save a good amount it was worth it, but £1 saving every few weeks, no ta.

I didn't know of Sainsburys and their 'Aldi price match' until a week or two ago. I always shop at Lidl then walk across the road to Tesco for other bits I can't get in Lidl.
Point to note; Lidl/Tesco is a 25 minute drive each way, (Thanks, Lincolnshire!)

Anyway, I bought a standard shop at Lidl, and added those same items to a basket on Sainsbury's groceries using as many Aldi Match products as I could. Turns out the Sainsbury's Aldi price match stuff was slightly cheaper than Lidl and the non Aldi price match stuff was actually about the same price. Overall, Sainsbury's With Aldi price match was cheaper than if I shopped at Lidl.
Now, tomorrow morning I have my shopping being delivered (costing me £1) because it's a saver spot (6-10am) which will save me a good hour and a half of time and 40(?) miles of fuel.

You’d only be shocked if you didn’t understand inflation and or how compound interest works…

Edit: even before all this crazy inflation £1 in 1997 equates to about £1.60 in 2021
