Cost of Living - Shrinkflation is speeding up at an alarming rate

Noticed today the cleaning cloths on a roll I usually buy are now 1cm shorter, almost 1cm less wide and they've added approximately to the measurements - but all are exactly the same slightly smaller size.

L'Oreal seem to have binned off many of their men's products which actually worked and replaced them with generic looking and feeling stuff which does nothing different to the generic name brands :( again at the old price point or slightly increased - which is disappointing.

I like the odd ice cream on a stick, some Magnums have shrunk from 4x120ml to 3x90ml, whist getting pricier and I noticed one brand in Aldi is down to 3x85ml.

I mean, just how much lower can they get without looking ridiculous?

I can't tell whether this is to do with brands dropping the name "man-size" from their tissues (now called "extra large") or if it's trans-related i.e. the recent hoo-har with Bud Light, but one thing is certain - it's gender politics rearing its ugly head once again.

Magnums ... dove soap etc. are made by the company that was in the media last week for record profits unilever ? - consider them like the banks that are making record profits too.
the energy companies, at least, are somewhat accountable with a windfall tax.

Noted Sainsbury's supply lines continue to be messed up sweetcorn from spain , after tomatoes from Morocco, eggs from Italy - poor quality products from those exploiting workers or chickens.

So if the eggs come from the UK the hens are not exploited?

egss we buy from Aldi are at least rspca assured so some more living space / light versus those living under the wheels of the red tractor;
waitrose higher welfare isn't so bad, but like many they are not yet adopting the slower growing varieties (for meat)
pork & eggs from europe wouldn't be on my menu.

Doesn't matter what label it has, free range barns are still cramped and the birds dont always get to go outside due to the pecking order, and they're all still killed anyway.

Not sure what you think europe does so differently to us

Here, see what youre actually paying for

Brought a bottle of coke from some shady little bar. They have given me this thing and charged me £2.50 for it!!

I have never seen shrinkflation affect a bottle of coke!!
Fingerless gloves? Did you leave your burning oil drum and shopping trolley full of rubbish outside?

I feel like the bulldog moisturiser contains more water now.

The Robinsons squash has gone from £1.50 to £1.25 on Sainsburys Nectar Card. Guess someone noticed a downturn on purchasing.

Cost to insure 3 cars for 2 drivers last year - £673
Cost to insure the exact same this year - £974

That's a 45% increase. This is not because of the war in Ukraine, the fallout from covid or even inflation, it's sheer bloody corporate greed.

Not liking the corporate greed but liking the fact people are seeing this for what it is.
