Considering the 350 and 400 were released in August 1998, you either had the fastest at the time, or didn't buy in July (if you bought when the 350 was available) :)

my first one was free, put together by Gf's at the time dad. :D

1st one I bought was £900 :- Amd 3000+, 512mb ram, Asus A8v mobo, Samurai Case, Ati 9550, 80gb Hdd, 17" Lcd, Lord I was a Newbie then, lol.

Still much the same kit, but upgraded a few times, ala sig :D

my first pc was a 'time' computer... as far as i remember it had:

intel celeron 400mhz cpu
32mb ram
8GB HDD
14 inch monitor.

i dont remember anything else about it really other than it set back my parents £1000. we got it because i was balls at IT, thought it might help me out. which it did. here i am with IT as my main hobby/job lol. i love it now lol.

The fastest processor Carrera were offering at the time of order (mid June) was the 350...and was another £150'ish if i remember right.

The 400 wasnt released in August as that was part of the new FSB speed ramps later in the year.

I think you'll find that the 350 was a 100fsb counterpart, much the same as the 400 and the 450.

The difference between the 350 and the 400 was the core, Katmai being the 350, deschutes being the 400 upwards.

1995:-

P90
Diamond Stealth 64 (I think)
16MB RAM
Soundblaster Pro
Quad speed CD-ROM
520MB HD

Jokester

Edit: Was about £1500 if I remember correctly

£400, first machine I ever built, which was in 2003

Athlon XP2400+
512MB PC2700 RAM
Gigabyte mobo (can't remember)
Radeon 9000 Pro
Globalwin case
100GB Seagate
CDRW

first pc was an oliveti p 133 with 32 mb o ram. 1.8 gig HD and windows 95

sucked.... well it was good at the time.. tis what i learned off of.

first one i built was a AMD K6-2 400 mhz with 256mb and a hard drive which i cant remember the size, and asus p5a motherboard.

i am guessing it would have been about 99 maybe a little later i cant remember !!!!!

First PC (from tiny just before they went bust)

Pentium 4 630
1GB RAM
Geforce 5300
2x 200GB drives

And I'm still on it now! Although it has randomly started freezing so may be throwing it out of the window soon.

£1800
1993
Packard Bell 486sx 25mhz
8mb RAM
Dual Speed CD-ROM
250mb HDD

and it's still in the loft, and prolly still works ^^

My first system had a cyrix 166 chip, upgraded it to cyrix 233 I think it was BEFORE I had even built the system! How's that for upgrading. :D

Forget what it cost but I do remember playing quake II I think it was and had problems as I only had 16mb ram. Upgraded to 64mb and a 3d graphics card, back then I went to the computer fair at whitchurch and upgraded something every month! Back then I spent far more than I do now.

Bought my 1st PC back in 1997 off a friend. It was a Cyrix 166, 64Mb RAM, 10GbHDD and 14" Monitor. It cost me £150. This year alone I've spent £600 on bits!!

Around 2000 iirc? and cost £1300

500mhz AMD k6-2
128mb ram
Onboard graphics
20GB hard drive
19!!!!!!!!" Crt

The screen was the biggest amongst anyone i knew at the time, and it has served me well (although for the last couple of years on the second pc, but still used daily) until today when I have had to order a new 20" tft due to the screen becoming unusable :(.

This was the 1st PC I ever had.... My dad bought it for me in '83 instead of a Commodore 64! (I'll never forgive the tight a**e!!).
