Agreed. A degree is almost meaningless now, with experience being much more valued. Only once you've been working low down for a while does the experience and degree start to bring you above others with only the experience.

When you say Bristol completely ignore it, why would they offer it in the first place. I don't understand the logic behind that!
Why would the college offer it? Because a lot of people doing it won't mind that it cuts down on their options for uni because they aren't going.

Offer what? Media courses? Because their media courses != A level media? :\.

It's just a point of fact that the better universities value "traditional subjects" above the newer ones mentioned above (someone quoted the LSE's list). That's because the newer subjects are easier than the traditional subjects. Fact.

Right.

Instead of checking on this forum order soem prospectuses to see requirements and subjects needed for the course you need to do, also make sure you want to do that course so youll have the motivation and so you dont waste your money on the student grant. Dont worry about the money, its the cheapest load you will ever get.

You preconceptions about unis, the people arnt all that bad.

Wait free lance?? What the hell would you need a degree for if you're free lance. I'm guessing you could set up your own shop and if you are actually good at design and media then people will buy your stuff/give you projects. You could lie anyway. "Darren Smith MA Designs". You are your own boss so you won't get the sack. Customers are hardly going to check you out, and then when you get more of a portfolio you will do well. I seriously don't think media is a good business to be going freelance into. It's an incredibly competitive business. Every high-street in every slightly bigger than small town has some sort of design shop. If you got a degree in design you would be wanting to work for sony/warner bros etc where you get a steady decent pay check.

The top universities are not full of 'ya' people. Don't be so naive, inverse snobbery is just as ridiculous. Don't drop history if you want to go a top institution. If you just want to go to a place with as few middle class people as possible, drop it.

Russell group, what a load of rubbish. There are Universitys outside of the Russell group that are rated just as well and better in some cases.

My view on yourself is that all of you alevel subjects seem to be weak. Id recommend doing something like an art foundation year then doing graphics as your main degree.
If that.s what your interested in.
