Could anyone recommend a decent restaurant in the West End?

Off to the theatre next week and hoping to catch an early dinner before the show. I've had a look around and a lot of the places that google finds have a menu a little too fussy for me, not a big fan of fois gras etc. Was going to plump for The Ivy but it's full :(

Could anyone recommend somewhere special that has a more simple style?

Walking distance of the Apollo Victoria would be great, thank you!

The Dean Street Town House is nice, just of Old Compton Street.
you mean on dean street? :p

Arbutus is rated quite highly, that's just round the corner.

Edit: I just looked up where that theatre is, it's not really in the west end in my book?

Looks like you might be right, I don't know London well at all.

Just looking for somewhere nice for tea, will check the above recommendations out, thank you :)

Can't really advise, but can tell you avoid any Aberdeen Steak House places. Ridiculously overpriced for what it is.

You see I'm from East London :/

I liked Maxwells Bar and Grill in Covent Garden. I expect the menu there will keep the kids happy. Will be a 5 min walk from the Apollo.

L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon is off of Charing Cross Road. Fantastic food, nice decor and not pretentious. One of the better restaurants in the country.
