Hi everyone

I am a little new to PC gaming, we recently anyway. Years ago I had a 2.8 pentium 4 based system and this June I will be the grand old age of 50!! So, I was wondering if you would have a gander at the system I intend to have built and give me some feedback. I'm currently using an Eizo Foris monitor but intend to upgrade to 1440p this year at some point.

Would anyone be able to advise if Overclockers would be able to put this together for me as I would not have a clue where to start?? And if so, what would they charge ish??

Many thanks, Steve :)

Welcome,

You can ask in CS or give them a call, im sure they can sort you out a quote. Even though some of them parts are out of stock.

If you don't need them specific parts you can always use the online configurator.

Is this you're fully finished list, do you want any advice on amendments?

Going to be honest, its pretty much bang on. Personally i wouldn't go for a sound dampened case with 2 780ti's in it. It'll damage your airflow and raise the temps.

I'd look a just a standard case, may be like the 450D or 540 Air.

Is this just a pure gaming rig?

EDIT:

this is my idea of a beautiful gaming rig.

Thank your for the very fast reply.... I have tried to use the configurator but I was going for a white theme, so the memory, case and psu needed to match. The only reason for the sound proofing is my Mrs will kick right off if it's noisy, we have a Dell XPS 420 at the moment and it sounds like my car ticking over!!

I would be very gratefull for any advise, amendments, as I said I'm very new to all of this and would like to make sure my final system is the best it can be. I had considered a couple of inno3d ichill dhs 780ti's, read a couple of reviews and they seem to be very nice. Not sure if 2 would fit on my motherboard though?

The pc will be used for gaming, for the most part but also for photo editing and a movie edit or two. The only reason I went for the i7 and not the i5.

Thanks again

That does look good, the case is great, they do a white one so that would keep the Mrs happy. What do you think about the 2x inno3d 780ti's?

Thanks for the help mate but I wanted to use nvidia cards, the rest of looks bloody amazing though!!

t'was a quick punt ;p
just showing what you can do with watercooling ;p

I'd love a rig the is water-cooled, and thanks again. I know so little about this stuff I'm grateful for your advise. I have been reading up on the AMD cards and I'm just a little worried about driver problems and the like, it seems nvidia have a bit of an edge where that stuff is concerned. Because of my noobness, I want a system that is kind of easy to use, just to give me time to get my head around the other tech stuff, I'm confident that once I do have a bit of an idea i'll love the tweaking side of things.

amd's drivers have improved vastly over the years. im using a amd card and i've had no problems with it whatsoever

I have just had a quick price up of a AMD 290 x 2 system. Would save me a nice few quid......... Just not sure, maybe I'll have a read up and see. This isn't being put together until the end of June so I have time, Intel have some new processors coming out soon I believe and price dependent I may go for one of those.

I should imagine a lot may change with my suggested system, and that was the point of me joining this forum. I used to have an AMD card, can't remember what it was called but it was the dog's back in the day lol. I managed with that so i'm open to AMD suggestions now. :)

I have a 280x and I have never had driver problems. Older card was AMD too, no problems either.

AMD generally have better bang for buck cards, but at 2K, I don;t think that's the main problem :p

I've always had nvidia cards other than one so I guess I am a little swayed in that direction, but it's just a case of that's what I know. I agree the bang for the buck definitely sway's toward AMD. The 2k is a problem lol......... It's a lot of money and I would be happy to make a saving and get a decent rig.

I have time and I just want to get this right and to be honest I hadn't really considered AMD but now I am so all is cool............

sli 780ti vs xfire 290x
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1073?vs=1075

not much between them

No their isn't...... Got me thinking now lol

I need to look at this again, I thought I had it sussed, well nearly sussed. I'm going to look into this a bit more. What's that 295 x2 card like, I see it seems to wipe the board with pretty much everything when I've been looking for 780ti benchmarks ??

yes, and more overclocking headroom

Please don't think me cheeky. Would you be as kind as to get a system together with a top price of 2500 and post it for me?? I don't know if this is possible for that money but that is my limit, unless it only goes a little over lol
