"Could not activate mobile data network" - New Orange phone error?

I am trying to access the app store with my new iphone 3gs and getting the above error message.

Any ideas? The phone is literally 30 mins old and this is the first time im trying to access it?
 
Was just reading the xda developers forums looking for info on this and apparently the orange 3g/gprs network is down! rather annoying.

Try using Wifi for now.
 
spent the last 2 hours reflashing my new galaxy S cos it all of a sudden lost mobile data and then i saw this - DOH! At least I know my phone is not broken!

Just done the same with my desire. Thought it was my radio update which I done last night. :p
 
Yeah got through to orange customer support who said it would be because the 3g/gprs network is down and told me it should be back on within 24hours!!!

Does this happen often with Orange? First day on orange and having issues! I had issues with signal etc with Vodafone last week and ran away from them hoping Orange was a better choice!
 
My Orange phone lost Data twice today, at least I know why now.

I initially thought it was their shoddy coverage in Bristol.
 
Aye I was pretty miffed by this on my HTC Hero, couldn't get the 3G bar going. thanks for letting me know I wasn't the only one.
 
I'm still without. Never mind it should be back soon enough. I have had a connection icon a couple of times but no actual data. Only been with orange for a few days too but I hear on the whole their service is pretty good.
