could you eat a nettle

well been watching al murray and eating nettles came up.would you try to eat a stinging nettle or have you eaten one.sounds like a good game for students to try.
 
If it were cooked, then yes, otherwise no, I have fallen down enough nettle covered hills to know not to touch them normaly....
 
All I know is you can make Tea out of them, tried it years ago and it tasted like hot sea water, rank. :)
 
Nah.

Kind of got put off them. As a child, I went for a pee in a bush surrounded with them , I slipped and stung my wotsit full on.

I will always remember this.
 
Anyone else heard of Dott Leaves? I cant find them on google, but if ever people use to sting themselves they would get a Dott Leaf, spit on it and rub it on the sting to remove the pain..... Sounds rather gross but it seemed to work....

Dock leaves as i remember them =/
 
I remember watching a programme where the presenter visited some villiage where the annual event was a nettle eating contest. The trick was to fold them up and don't chew much.

Ray mears held them over a fire just enough to wilt the leaf and ate them, apparently it removed/destroyed the venom.
