Counter-Strike: Source New Update Released

Did valve/steam warn anyone they would be releasing this update?

I manage about 7 different servers and on the night I couldn't update them because their servers were overloaded and after finally updating them (slow download) and moving configs/addons about I got a server up last night. Sourcemod wasn't working properly so I had to wait for an update for that this morning.

Just seems like they've dumped it on us :(

Yes, they have shown little regard for the community that kept the game going all these years.

Although I think they may have noticed.. hopefully it gets sorted. I obviously can still play the game, when its not crashing or clipping me through walls or the floor, but it really isn't the same.

Yup.

Reducing tick hasn't fixed reg, its just borked the game. And amplified the problem with registration that was there in the first place.

I've gave up now.

I'll keep an eye on forums and see if they fix it, if not valve won't get another penny from moi.
 
I honestly can't tell the difference.

Super honestly. I think you guys are just a bunch of massive crybabies and I'm going to stand by that to the grave.

Just because you aren't having problems doesn't mean the rest of us aren't.

The bit where you get killed by an opponent and is given the option to save the moment by pressing F5 is funny lol:D. When I am looking at the players list screen, I tend to see so many skulls :D. Yeh I agree that game does feel jittery sometimes and doesn't feel as smooth as the previous version.
 
Just bought this from steam, i cant seem to join a server :/

i click refresh and it brings up loads of servers, and everyone i try to join, says server not responding.

Anyway around this?

Ive started my own server and it works fine, just cant join an online server

Your problems are genuine (it looks like you've taken some acid ingame), but I'm talking about all the guys who moan about hitboxes and client registration and all that technical jargon when the difference isn't even noticeable. If you want to shoot that dude's head off just aim at it and click. This fundamentally works. It worked before the patch and it works after the patch.

There's always 1.6. People always have a raging hard-on for that antiquated game. If I was a millionaire, I would pay Valve to update it to 1.7. /cackle

The problem is, the difference is very noticable to some of us.

I've done between 20-50 hours a week, for years. I probably play on average well over 1000 hours a year. The speed in which the game operates becomes second nature, and you time your play movements and shots from it.

When you get really really fast and accurate with point and click, you notice when the game stutters. You then notice when the game seems to be 'sticking' or 'jarring'.

This is the problem really.

7/10 times it/you will kill, its the other times where you blantantly hit the box in time and it doesn't register.

This is only compounded by majorly fluctuating fps like I am experiencing myself.

To be fair, its not like I am the only person complaining of this... seems quite a lot of people feel its slower too.

I dont play as religiously anymore but the difference on my computer and configs is like night and day for me. So either your not seeing the same issues through ignorance or you genuinely dont have them and you are lucky.

How would you feel if someone came into your garage in the middle of the night and fixed loads of spoilers and skirting on your car but replaced the engine with a jittery clunky slower model? :p (bit of a rubbish analogy)

Anyway not too fussed, they might get all the bugs ironed out and it will be good fun again.

Its took 10 years, but finally i have the 25 kill achievement :rolleyes:

Anyway to disable achievements and stats completely for CSS? I find it a bit annoying when it splashes up in my face.
 
Personally, I have weird performance with this game now..

TF2 and L4D 1&2 play fine

q6600
gtx260
4gb

Not a beast of a machine, but it should play it fine at 1920x1080, and at the moment, it does not
