Counterstrike 3 - No dedicated Server support

I like the COD series but CS/CSS is far better, lets be honest there's very little skill involved when playing COD and most maps are just frag fests. Kill - Die - Respawn, repeat till bored

CS:S / CS is just one big clan fighting game.

ALSO ... now that COD6 is going through IW.net, I wonder if they thaught about the people who rent out DEDI servers and how much they will lose out on..

What valve or steam. How can they lose money or do they lease dedicated servers?

Skillwise/tactics/teamwork etc. CS beats COD hands down (but then again I havent seen many console players play CS :p)

Not sure if loads of people have left counter strike but competitivity cod4 is bigger on clanbase anyway. Ive got nothing against counter strike but i think the general i think the complaints would be about the same.

Good reason for that, clanbase is crap and source players have always hated it, it was only ever good for one thing and that was the eurocup, there are much better places to play cs/css than clanbase

EDIT: i should have read everyone elses replies first, seems everyone has already corrected you enough times :)

but only a small percentage of COD4 players bought it though steam.

If you ignore console stats and only consider the PC, those stats were only showing how many were playing the game at that moment in time, im willing to bet that there was FAR more CSS players than COD4 players even taking into consideration the fact that most will have bought COD4 via another media
(after all, you can't compare console and PC stats directly hence only taking PC stats into consideration)

those stats where only showing the people playing who bought COd4 though steam not anyone who bought it retail etc (which will be the vast majority of people).

Valve are an awful company who don't give a toss about the competitive side of their game (CSS) and only ever make pointless updates which ruin the game even more.

Once pro mod comes out CSS and 1.6 will be dead.

I did take that into consideration, if you compare the server lists in both games, compare the amount of people that are on them at any one time then i still believe that CSS still has a far greater amount of people playing it at any one time than COD4 ever has

It would be interesting if it was possible to gather an accurate amount of people currently playing COD4 though

You have played the beta haven't you? It's dog awful and every revision they do is dog awful, by the time they get it to a point where it's actually any good there will be better games to play, and it'll only ever manage to get a cut of the community that css/cs currently has anyway! all it's going to do is split an already divided community into 3 sections.

EDIT: actually it'll divide it into four sections becuase you still have these strange people (albeit small amount) that play CZ like their lives depended on it.
