You work in the industry, iirc - that correct? Why don't more companies do what DPD do with live tracking and one hour long windows - eg. I'll be told something's arriving tomorrow, then in the morning they'll give me a one hour window in which I know it'll arrive (so I don't have to hang around/gamble and rush a shower/etc!). I can't see how that'd cost much to implement, tbh... but presumably I'm being dense and it'd cost loads to do, or something. Random Amazon Logistics people, for example, could carry a smart phone which could send all the necessary data through a corporate app on a smart phone... it's not as though all the delivery staff would need an expensive gadget sent out to them.
It's better for the end user, and I'd assume it'd result in fewer redeliveries needed given people will be more likely to be in for that specific slot, or if they know they won't be they'll rearrange it before a delivery attempt is made. Although I don't know how tiny the margins are on cheaper parcel delivery services, nor do I know the frequency and cost of redeliveries, etc - rambling from a position of ignorance.
Out for delivery scans (with most couriers anyway) are usually the result of a round being fully loaded/ready to leave. The courier (normally a housewife) will then decide what ones they are going to attempt that day (if any) and what ones will be tomorrow. Hence the scan 2 minutes later saying yours will be delivered the next day. Nowhere does it say your delivery had been attempted,
Because-
It's very expensive to implement.
It has no effect on the % of successful deliveries made or cards left (I work for a rival company and the triangle report, which is the indestries independent market research company place us 2 places higher than DPD in both delivered first time and on time delivery success)
In fact it has put us above DPD in most categories for the past 4 years.
They must have not asked around here. DPD have been by far the best couriers hereabouts.
Why do people defend couriers so ?
IF they have crap staff or your depot/routes are over loaded you will get a crap service.
Doesn't matter what company.
People understand that 1 person having 1 bad experience doesn't mean the entire company is bad.
They must have not asked around here. DPD have been by far the best couriers hereabouts.
Weird - that seems counterintuitive. Does the report cover everything, or is it just a B2B thing? I just Googled for it briefly and it came up with a B2B one, but I don't know if there's anything else or if that's what you're referring to.
