COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Ever since I had covid about 4 weeks ago I had been suffering with pain in my right shoulder, woke up Thursday morning with bad pain every time I would breathe in, it went away till the evening when it came back, never felt pain like this, had to call an Ambulance had to wait 7 hours for it to arrive, was rushed to hospital upon arrival my heart rate instantly dropped from 88 beats to 24 beats per min, I thought I was going to die, I have never felt as rough as this. Anyway long story short they found a blood clot on my lungs caused by covid

Wow, glad to see you’re now on the mend. How were you physically before Covid, Fit and healthy?

I was yeah, never really been ill before, not overweight but now I cant walk without panting, going to be on blood thinners for 6 months, still hurts sometimes when I breathe, it's scary knowing that I'm sat here with a blood clot in my lungs

Terrible, hope you get through ok, get us updated.

I think it's crazy how our government is basically ignoring Covid, I genuinely think our generation is screwed with this virus, I mean how many time will we all get Covid during the rest of our life's, 10, 20 times? More? Eveytime we get it it damages our body slightly and we become more susceptible to long term health conditions.

I still think masks should be a legal mandate in close contact areas, we should accept that is a part of our life for the foreseeable now, acceptance of Covid shouldn't mean we carry on as normal, it's a ridiculous notion, we think we can just bear it out with a stiff upper lip, we have to adapt to a new way of life.

Won't be happy if forced to wear a mask. Myself and others found it difficult to give/receive communication some customers if they have a soft voice or strong accent with a mass. Sometimes we have to ask several times the same thing. Plus we find it difficult to concentrate as well with a mask.

You are never happy anyway. You do understand the use of masks right?

I didn't like it either, but if it would help save thousands of lives, and also lesson the impact of long Covid on our generation I think it's worth the 'minor' inconvenience, look at mathewhotdude who I quoted, young healthy chap that now has a blood clot on his lung, as time goes on and people end up having Covid for a 6th, 8th, 10th time the true impact of this virus will really start to rear its ugly head, and then people will be saying "we should have kept mask wearing in place", the problem with society is most people think they are fine until one day they are not, then regrets kick in.

Cant believe after all this time that people haven't learnt that omicron is so infectious that even China style lockdowns cant really control it.

The only solutions are current vaccines to minimise the effects and hopefully future ones to prevent it spreading.

Even if masks were 100% effective unless people wore them all the time it will still spread.

Of course it will still spread, who said otherwise?

It's just about lessoning the impact of it in a way in which doesn't really effect our freedom of movement, also it's economicly a good thing to have in place to help mitigate against higher levels of employees having sick leave.

Ignoring the fact that every time the devolved nations had stricter mask mandates they didn't see better outcomes - even if masks had some effectiveness they would just slow down cases - is 250k cases really going to make much difference to 300k? Doing something for the sake of it just further undermines public confidence in such measures.

I tested positive this morning, 1st time!

I went to submit the results on the GOV website, you now have to take a photo of the test and it decides for you. It said I was negative. but there's definitely a 2nd line there...

There's 1.5m+ people getting it each week so I wouldn't worry about reporting the result lol

I have never understood why they don't tell people to stay at home if positive - while making testing kits easier to get/cheaper.

It doesn't have to be enforced, but as it stands you can legally go around a small shop infecting everyone and the government are happy with that.

had it again the last few days felt like death no energy at all and bed ridden.

kept on burning up and then last night the bunged up came and the tickly cough.

feel a lot better today though.

You have to inhale someones spit to catch it - unless someone coughs in your face its highly unlikely you'd catch it from a random in a shop.

Having rules that aren't enforced is pointless.

It's actually very easy to catch it indoors. It's extremely transmissible as we well know.

Strong guidance rather than 'do what you like' would help IMO.
