I'd never heard of it before this show, so /meh
not sure i'd fully agree w/ that. i'm not finished w/ theanime yet but a lot of what was in the TV series was fairly faithful, other than having the timeline shuffled all over. The design work was spectacular too, they'd gone the extra mile to match even some of the smaller details of tech and gadgets, it was an obvious love letter to the anime. the major let down to me was the casting, the lead especially just couldn't pull off the laconic coolness. the mishsmash of styles jarred too, it was noir one episode, hippy 60s the next, etc. if they'd just established one it might have grounded it better.Colour me not surprised lol.
Cringe script, cringe acting and the writer team obviously just wanted to do whatever they wanted rather than homage the anime.
