CPR W3 on Hairworks(Nvidia Game Works)-'the code of this feature cannot be optimized for AMD'

I dont understand why CDPR havent made it an option in their game yet since its such a performance hog. Give me the darn tess slider all ready.

I was in impression that CDPR had the "blackbox" version of hairworks, which means if 64x is in source, then 64x it is, and there is nothing they can do about it? Could be wrong.

Someone here confirmed that Gameworks trashes performance even with settings disabled.

Remove files, get 10fps boost. Put em back, FPS takes a dive. Pretty much confirms my suspicions that gameworks contains "stub" code with a logic bomb designed to sabotage AMD & n-1 geforces.

What files? I'd love to get 10 FPS gain :p

CDPR could override it with higher level patching, middle-ware to Nvidia's drivers, or Nvidia in the drivers like AMD, or just not tessellate it to such extremes to start with.

Yup that was me but no one responded to it.. in my case it wasnt a pure 10fps but close and it had no visual impact. Problem is the file in question is named APEX_ClothingGPU_x64 which leads me to believe its using my GPU for some simulations meaning that if i remove it those simulations goes perhaps to the CPU instead which has plenty of room. I dont have a powerful enough AMD card to test this theory with so i dont know if removing that file on an AMD setup will actually help anything.

Just searched my PC. I don't have that file.
its located in "Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64"

Check here m8

Witcher 3 wild hunt/bin/x64

I havennt tried it,and im skeptical of the validity of the claim tbh lol

just backup the file and remove it afterwards? whats the worse that can happen? i supplied screenshots of the effect. If it does nothing for you simply put the file back..

EDIT: Would like to stress that i tested it at the during the Well quest in White Orcard. When i completed the quests there performance went back up so its not a solid +x amount of FPS through the entire game.

If it's for Physics, screenshots wouldn't show the difference :p?

That is very much true, however i went around white orchard afterwards paying attention to Cloth of NPCs and similar stuff and it was exactly the same effect or should i say lack off. Made no difference with the file there or not which i think is pretty darn odd.

Whelp. This thread has now gone full tinfoil hat.

Your right,i will actually give it a try,as its easy to do :)

Ive personally found instances of this, however i dont think its there to hurt AMD on purpose. From the looks of it to me i think its simply an unoptimized part of the game. Some little stupid piece of code running rampant from time to time and that sadly seems part of the gameworks library. It hurts the performance of my 780 a good deal though so i hope it gets fixed soon.

It did nothing to my FPS.
Although I don't deny there's a chance it may perhaps change things with Nvidia GPU's.

Im gonna pop in my old 5850 and see if i notice any difference on it and perhaps record a video of it as well. But i wouldnt be suprised if its a nvidia only thing.
