You will notice if you're not able to do it. My guess is you are fine with the 7700, as long as you have enough RAM etc.

Seems you're just wanting to spend money with a reason to buy a new PC just for USB ports.

Perhaps buy something else like a Hifi? If you've just got low quality logitech speakers or something like that would be worthwhile than just updating PC...just because something new is out.

Unless you die of old age whilst loading a game, or bones turn to dust on the new video frame update, don't waste your money.

what i read on benchmarks for gaming, streaming and opened many tabs and app opened same time need a cpu with multi core higher score .. and i see 7700 compared with 14700k its much better

?

I bet you'd not notice the difference with that use case, why would you jump from am5 to eol socket ? Or just wait and drop in CPU with higher core count zen 5 x3d cpu

The 9800x3d is likely to be relatively expensive.

However I would wait for it's launch before buying anything now, see where the prices are then, chances are the 7000 series CPUs will drop in value

He is talking about switching to 14700k he has to buy CPU and motherboard

He already has am5 motherboard with 7700, it's drop in CPU it's not gonna cost anymore, regardless he shouldn't really need to change what he already currently has

Threadrippers are even better. Buy that! lol

It's called "chasing the dragon" Unless your machine is slow to the point of annoyance (which I doubt) you're just wasting your money.

You don't need a new machine just to have lots of tabs open games and video encoding.

Oh, i didn't see it read like that my bad.

I wouldn't bother switching, not enough gains to be had to make a meaningful difference.

It's not like they working on the stick market and the difference of half a second is the difference of millions or lots of millions

because if i buy a 9000 series still need to change MB ... because has support only for 7000 series

i was deciding 9900X and 9800X3D , 9900X i know its better in multi tasking and below in gaming then 7800X3D wich its same price in my country, 14700K i saw its small behind in gaming and some titles 7800X3D its better .... i know its a hooter and old platform .... but i want a CPU to do both equally and i forgot to say i also need for video editing its my money not yours I specially collected money for this.... i want a advice what cpu its better than ryzen 7 7700 ,

Incorrect, it will support 9000 series as well
Go check the motherboard manufacturer site of the model you have

i was , not has support for 9000 series , also i read on reddit when many people has same MB and ask gigabyte support and say the my MB not has support for 9000 series because for PCB or something like that

REV 1.2 i have

It depends on your specific usage, but usually a modern 8-core CPU like the 7700 is more than sufficient for this task, so long as you have enough RAM.

I can manage it fine on substantially less powerful CPUs (i.e. less than half the speed) than the one you own.

For gaming you're very unlikely to notice much difference between the 7700, 14700K or arrow lake CPUs. They're really in the same ballpark of gaming performance and you're sidegrading rather than upgrading to a new generation.

The 14700K does have higher multithread performance in heavily multithreaded tasks (as do the top-end arrow lake CPUs), but we're talking very demanding things that use your full CPU power, not just Cyberpunk and a few Chrome tabs.

The 7800X3D/9800X3D models are different, since in some games the cache is a huge advantage (especially at lower resolutions), but to me you're still within the same kind of FPS range (they're the same architecture after all), so unless you play a game that LOVES the cache and you're desperate for a bit more FPS, then no, I would not make this change. It also would not help you much with multithreading performance.

i play games at 1440P and i saw in games 14700k its not so much behind .... with 7800X3D so i do not need especialy cpu only for games....

even i keep 7700 need change motherboard , because not have upcoming cpu support
