CPU cooler advice needed please

eh?

Seems eaten too many wine gums.
On the AMD link you sent. It refers to it as "The Exceptional Gaming Processor"

So I made a (bad) joke and stated that I only knew about the UnExceptional Gaming Processor!
I thought you joking about being sassy, winding me up asking about each CPU because I mentioned knowing the temps of another :P

Now I've got no clue whether you've out sassed me, or were actually serious

It's too early for these reverse UNO mind games :D

without knowing too much id take an educated guess on a 7700 with the noctua ndh14
id imagine the temperatures would be fairly decent at a guess assuming all else was reasonable case airflow useage wasnt running 24/7 stress tests overclocked to the teeth type thing id assume the cooler in question would be ample
im running the ndh15 on a 5900x and well the temps are ........ very very reasonable i would have no issues if the room got a good bit warmer or if i decided to overclock or do other stuff that involves more heat generation my ndh15 and 5900x would be fine and i think
yours should also be more than fine
i get cpu idle in the upper 30s-41 at the most usually i can get her up to 60/61 on strss and games etc after a while ive not seen it above 65 and that was proper trying to find a situation
that might trip me up i was proper double checking the thermals so I think yours should be the same or better than mine this is all jsut a guess but based on reasonable data at least

also appologies because i seem to have derailed this into a sensible message and its way too early for me to make sense
so sorry about that
to make up for it
wibbly wobbly wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

How DARE you destroy Sunday Morning Sass!

Me and @hornetstinger were trying to merely outfox each other with sarcasm/sass, and along you come trying to be helpful. *****!

What about the Arctic Freezer 36? I picked up the CO version for £16 a while ago it's been keeping my 5700X below 85c at the peak of summer.
Freezer 36 is like Thermalright Assassin 120 and Assassin Spirit 120 priced £14.99-29.99. 4 heatpipe single tower 120mm fan coolers can't handle near as much heat as 6 heatpipe twin towers.

i had noticed theres a few versions of those thermalright coolers
so for bigger cpus always go for the 6 heatpipe version? [im actually trying to find something suitable for a 9900k build for a friend atm so this is relevant]

The Peerless Assassin has 6 heatpipes, whatever the varient, be it 120SE/RGB/white/black etc.
The Phantom Spirit has 7 heatpipes, again regardless of the variant.

The 7th heatpipe and the revised fans featured on the Phantom Spirit, don't seem to make any real world difference - IIRC in a review it might have been 1.2C at peak when head to head, I remember it being miniscule and didn't warrant the slightly higher price.

So the Peerless Assassin is king IMHO.

Thermalright do release far too many HSF's and AIO's, in too many variations! Which is a bit offputting for new customers.

i kinda like the choice if im honest
but im so use to just having a cooler that i like i forget that when i go to buy one as a present [and tbf he doesnt see the appeal of a cooler the size of my ndh15 LOL!]
its that one above that hornetstinger just linked that i was thinking of getting for them as for the extra 5r i think it is it looks the more substantial for want of a better word
still glad i asked though lol.

For me it's a bit overwhelming. Just give me say entry level, mid range, high end, and give me the option for RGB and non RGB, and with or without a screen.

Yeah that's a decent one Hornet's linked :)
