CPU cooler advice needed please

Ha, tbf I hadn't checked the prices. Think I'd get the Peerless Assassin myself. Looks like if you get a Noctua you're stuck with the brown/beige fan just to make the point that it's a Noctua. :)
or theres the noctua chromax series if you want it black..............
but still the value for money suggestion is the thermalright option lol

I have a noctua dh15 (chromax black or whatever it's called, I. E. Not brown and beige) in one PC and a thermalright PE in another So I feel I'm qualified to comment.

I do think the Noctua has a slight edge but it's also bigger and way more expensive.

The overall £ V's performance of the thermalright is impossible to ignore so it I'd have to recommend it over the Noctua.

+1 same here
i also have the chromax version but i couldnt justify the 3x the price unless the person i was recomending it to really liked noctua as much as i do lol the tr option is a no brainer for the majority of users

Even when people argue about fans and silence, and I do see that a fair bit, you could buy a Thermalright dual tower and a couple of Noctua fans and still spend a fraction.
I am not disagreeing with you but I have never understood these complaints about fan noise unless the user just fits them and lets them do whatever they want rather than setting limits. Any cooler can be silenced it's just a case of how much you are wiilling to trade temps for less noise. I have been running Thermalright coolers for around three years now even since I ditched custom watercooling and first had the Peerless Assassin PA120 SE then a Frozen Edge 240mm AIO and now a Frozen Vision 360mm AIO (£37 off the MM) while my wifes pc started off with a AXP120-XP67 low profile cooler and now my old Frozen Edge 240mm. Both of us also have Thermalright case fans and I have zero complaints about fan noise. Yes they will ramp up if you allow them and like all fans will be very audible then but like most things in a pc you need to send a little time to tweak things to your liking. We have all fans in both pc's running on the motherboards silent profiles and while mine is silent the wifes does have a bit of fan noise due to it being close to the living room radiator but it's by no means loud. My cpu idles in the mid 20's and while gaming hit's the mid 40's, those temps are excellent despite running on a silent profile and with all stock Thermalright fans. Even the PA120 can be much quieter on the stock fans if they are tweaked, even more so if you are a headcase and fit a third fan to it like I did. :D
