cpu core location on Q6700

yeah is the q6700 just as good as the q6600 for overclocking mine is a 0 stepping or what ever its called.

I got mine from OCUK many many years ago and back then if I remember right it said in the description it was the unlocked version.

Was that before or after droop?
Iirc it was 1.5125 in bios, its over 4 years ago since i had that cpu. I have an 8 hour prime stable screenshot of it, but photobucket is being a curse tonight. It's in the last few pages of the intel quad core database thread that was run here a few years ago.

rnning prime 95 64bit i get

cores

0-45c
1-45
2-35
3-35

Such a shame I want to get cores 0 and 1 to 35c then I can start overclocking this beast :)

ummm im not far off 60c on stock.

45c is miles from 60c, my q6700 only heats up with serious extra volts. You should be able to OC yours with a decent motherboard and keep it (pretty) cool if you keep it under 1.4v.

Personally I'm ok with 75-80C in Prime so long as it stays under 70C in 'normal' heavy use.

Oh really 70c is deemed acceptable?

I suppose most games wont heat this thing up as prime really does use all 4 cores at 100% where as games may only pushthis thing past %100 o one core.

Good to know thanks :)
