CPU De-lid Tool

I never wanted to delid because I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of screwing it up. I would do it in a heartbeat with this tool!!!

Yeah, carving anything out of a lump of billet is always going to mean very high production costs.

Like others I can't see a "single use" or casual use person bothering.

If this becomes popular i can see intel selling chips with a increased price and chips wich are not sealed so you can apply your own thermal compound and then glue the IHS your self with a different warranty with the warranty being key.

IMO to be worthwhile it really needs a direct to die heatsink which will need to solve mounting problems, plus from what I've seen Ivy Bridge onwards (due to trigate transistors?) really do not get rid of heat very well regardless of the cooling method used, so even with direct die cooling you'll still get insane temps if the load/voltage is high enough.

Roman has sent me one of these to try..his engineering will be spot on as it always is.

I will check if we are stocking them. CK for sure are.

I told Intel many times K sku. Remove IGP, remove ddr3 controller, solder IHS charge 50 extra enthusiasts would pay.

True, but I wonder if it would be worth doing a combined purchase to then post around, to allow multiple people to de-lid. Id happily contribute to purchase one on this basis.

That's the only bit they'll do out of your suggestions :D

Delidding a 6700k is incredibly easy though, I did it with a craft knife blade and no clamp. My first delid too. It's neat I guess but I can only see the point if you're doing loads of them.
