this is a stability question...

my cpu is at 3.2 (400x8) @ 1.425v and can happily do a 12 hour orthos small fft stint...

the ram is at 800MHz (4-4-4-12), so exactly what it says on the tin (can't get it any higher which is really disappointing for ballistix :(

anyway, like i said, orthos small fft is all good, and memtest will run a night with no errors, but orthos blend will fail within 30 mins... how on earth does that make sense?

i caan't believe i've got a bad overclocking cpu, some ram that wont budge above stock, and i'm on my third motherboard cuz of faults :(

what settings have you got for u're chipset and memory voltages ?

try leaving you're memory settings on auto.

check out you're setup in game (if u're a gamer) and see how it runs, just cos orthos fails in 30 minutes doesnt mean it wont work ok.

chipset was set to 1.45 i think (dont really know what this should be i went off that dfi dark tweaking guide someone did) - and my ram is at the specified 2.2

isnt that really pushing it for NB voltage? when i used to have a DS3P most people put it to +0.1v (which would be 1.35v) and that always seemed to do the trick...

do you think thats where the instability lies? it doesn't add up why seperately they are rock but together they're about as stable as a one legged giraffe...

its amazing how a small increase can cause issues from my experiences in the past.

being as its the combination of both thats causing the issue and ram/cpu voltages are within reason, short of decreasing the cpu overclock slightly, the northbridge voltage seems most likely to resolve the issue if its possible.

as for 1.5 being high, check the cooler see if its warm (u can touch it) or hot (put u're hand near and you can feel the heat), if its hot yeah tis too much.

i wouldnt be too worried about it if the orthos small fft is all good, and memtest will run a night with no errors.

as i said run it doing what you normally do and see if you notice any issues, if you do, the most sensible thing to do is reduce the overclock a touch.

have you seen any issues with the mobo and ballistix memory or generally overclocking problems ?

naah its just generally crap at overclocking, on all three motherboards i've had i just think i've been very unlucky with all my components...

in terms of lowering the overclock, i used to run at 3.4 gig but it was just too hot for my liking, stable, but too hot, so this was the reduction...

i'll give the northbridge a punt at 1.5
