I have this MOBO:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-280-MS

And this CPU:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-504-IN

It's just not fitting in, the notches don't line up (tried both ways) and it just doesn't seem to fit at all. There are also exposed pins down one side (it doesn't cover all the mobo pins) These are the best photos I could get:

I phoned OC tech support up, and they confirmed they should fit. What am I doing wrong? I've read the manual, and unhinged the clips etc, lifted the plate. Just doesn't fit!

Wont fit.

Similar name but the 4820K fits X79 only.

The X99 is actually 2011-3 socket.

I phoned OC tech support up, and they confirmed they should fit.

At OcUK?

Uh,

Well the CPU you have is the wrong socket for the mobo. You have a 2011-3 mobo and an older generation 4820k, the only CPUs that fit your mobo are the 5820k, 5930k, 5960X and the Xeons
You should be looking at X79 motherboards not X99

Yes I know I'm an idiot lol, RAM was off Amazon, searched DDR4 but fuzzy search gave me DD3 and I didn't pay enough attention.

SO you have DDR3?

Might be easiest to get a X79 board, X79 is still a strong platform if that helps.
