CPU Paste

The MX3 is best, it's definitely safer. However why not MX4 or IC Diamond? I'm using the 7 carat IC here with a H50 and it's great.

Thanks for your replies,

How is the best way to apply the thermal paste on the CPU? I will be using it with an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3 GHz

Thanks

Don't get MX3 its harder to spread, use MX4 performs better and is easier to spread, if you don't go for the IC Diamond.

the best thermal compound i have ever used personally is coolabratory liquid metal, but its horrible stuff to work with, on the other side is its more a liquid than a paste so spreading is a piece of cake, well it can be anyways! ;)

oh and the syringe style applicator carries a risk of well...death if you sneeze or something, plus its electrically conductive!

double edit: also don't for the love of jesus use it with aluminium heatsinks, as i hear it corrodes them!

AMD themselves advise a blob in the middle. Just push the cooler down and it will spread itself.

Either of those are more than adequate. I use the Arctic Silver.

i also use mx-4

with AS5 its conductive, so if you get some onto your mobo, it could short it, and it takes about 5 days to cure properly iirc

Thanks for your further replies, I have gone with the MX-4 paste. I will also try applying a dot on the CPU and see how that works. I normally spread the paste over the CPU but I wanted know which is the best way to apply it as I know people do it certain ways.
