Has anyone ever managed to straighten bent pins?

I apparently have bent pisns on mines. i havent seen it yet to see how bad it is but has anyone ever managed to fix this,

I have managed to straighten the pins in a Common interface slot on a tv that are much the same so could this be possible

Edit: i do not hold anyone responsible for my actions or any outcome that may harm or impail me in any form. any action would be taken on my part and any actions caused by this would be my fault
 
You can straighten them if they have not been bent too much. If they're at 90 degrees they'll probably break off when you straighten them.
 
Dear lord of Technology i pray to thee that all is fixable.

i just dont want my 150quid new mobo to be a write off
 
a needle and a bank card is good for socket 939 and uPGA478 pins, I've rescued a few with those tools :)
 
My biggest concern is trying to see them, might see if i can get a realy good magnifying glass to see them, things r like genetal hairs
 
Fixed a Gigabyte G33 board that had quite a few bent pins - 25 or so.

Just take your time and don't force them.

I used a paperclip and a watchmakers flat head screwdriver.

im just hoping that it is fixable and nothing else has been taken out with it.
Like capacitors and stuff.
Havent been able to test my RAM to see if its ok
 
If you're talking about the LGA775 socket then these are damned difficult to fix and from what I've read the contacts can break off pretty easily so take your time and plenty of care.

If it's an old style CPU then I just used a ruler as both a gauge and guide to straighten bent pins.
 
Yeah it the LGA 775, im more than willing to give it a try if it breaks it breaks got it at the back of my mind its goosed anyway
 
ive dropped several CPUs before bending the pins and bent them back fine. all you need is some tweezers and something like a credit card to bend several at a time.

if how ever u have crushed the pins i.e trying to clamp the cpu in while its in the wrong way, this is a bit more difficult to rectify as you can snap off the pin

How can you bend the pins on a c2d? Last time I looked there wasn't any... just contact pad type things?

just read it was a LGA775, all the pins are on the mobo. This might be a slightly harder task, i was refering to s939.

What you think the chances of it being nackerd if the pins are straightened. would this also be the reason i was getting no signal on the gfx card
