CPU Problem

Well i've reset the bios to it's 'optimum' settings and when the old processor is places back in it allows you to alter the multiplier which wasn't available before? Isn't available on the 2.8 chip.

But when CPUID is loaded it says the BIOS is Phoenix and obviously the motherboard is QDI Platinix.

So i'm a little unsure which is actually the BIOS as QDI features are mentioned once in the BIOS.
 
Its a QDI Platnix with a custom Phoenix BIOS, theres only a few BIOS makers out there, such as Phoenix, AMI etc.. all boards use some version of their BIOSes, sometimes with their own features tacked on. What multiplier are you trying to save? If you mean you're trying to set the multiplier and then use the 2.8Ghz chip after then that won't work as once the cpu is changed its detected and your 2.8Ghz chip is locked to 14x max.

Unfortunately since your board and BIOS don't support the chip it dosen't know how to set the multiplier and is defaulting to its lowest default, which is 12x.

What are you on about? We've already id'ed the chip and we've already come to the conclusion that his board can't run it (it supports 533 max while this chip is a 800fsb) and HT support was never a question to begin with :confused: Did you even read the thread?
 
lol if only! You pay extra for those K series cpus for the unlocked multiplier, only ES (enginerring samples) of the PIV were potentially unlocked. With the core 2 and onwards the 'Extreme editions' were unlocked upwards, like the QX6800 etc.. Basically any mainstream intel cpu since i think around the 100fsb Pentium 2s are locked. Not so sure on the EE editons of PIV 775 cpus as i never used or saw one though i think they're locked upwards too.
