They are the same CPU.

The first comes with 2 years more warranty, a cooler, and a nice retail box!

Do you already have it?

This is what I thought when looking.

I already bought the first one. He was on about K-Series or something

They're both the same CPU, with the differences above. They're both "K" chips which can therefore be overclocked with an appropriate motherboard.

If you've already got it, keep it :)

Just got off the phone to jamy (im the friend btw) and he fudged up. He posted OEM and retail when he meant to post a link to the one he actually bought (which is a 2500 from amazon) not the k version.

I appreciated you calling me cheap though thats .

Ah, well if he got the 2500 and not 2500K then thats a different story and we'd all agree its worth sending back for a 2500K :)

indeed it would be a much different story, and i would have been agreeing with sending it back if it wasnt the k version

:).

The only reason I recommended a OEM instead of the retail too is that Jamy had already ordered a stock cooler, and the OEM package is only £2 more expensive than the 2500 he previously ordered. Trying to save costs for him wherever possible .

Ive had the 2500k OEM for ever a year over-clocked to 4.4 and had no issues, so im not too fussed about the warranty.

IMO if a chips going to fail it will be in the first year, maybe even the first week tbh. (Only IMO of course)

Fair enough, tbh with the current deal on OcUK I'd recommend OEM too + a decent cooler. Its just when there is little difference between OEM and retail that its worth getting retail IMO

I buy retail versions on most things. So you actually did yourself a favor mate. More warranty and the little additional extras (even you dont use them you can always just keep them for spares or backups)

For the sake of a little bit more money its well worth it just for the extra warranty :)
