Cpu Temps Q6600

Is it normal to have such discrepancies between bios and software readings?

Yes - but which is correct?

Personally would believe core temp.

If my memory hasn't totally failed me - remember reading an article some time ago that explained in some technical detail why you should not believe motherboard temp readings.

Have memories of watching alleged temps go up ,down ,up and down after bios updates.

Am running dual core Opteron and the difference between the two cores is approx 6c which , having read up , I understand is quite normal - something to do with uneven heatspreader.Would guess yours is o'k

Coretemp or Speedfan (assumming you have an upto date version) give the most accurate readings based on the temp diodes in the core of the processor, motherboard readings tend to give you the reading from the socket..

Just for reference here is my rig @ 3.2ghz, Vcore = 1.21 Under load

3.2 @ Idle with low fan speed

3.2 @ Load with low fan speed (as high as I normally let my fans go before they become "loud")

and finally 3.2 @ load with the gloves off :)
