CPU Upgrade for gaming

I'd say that cooler isn't really upto the job to be perfectly honest, if you're looking to go with that CPU, I'd definitely look at upgrading that cooler at the same time

With PBO set to -20 or -30 it should be OK. The latest BIOS for the Gigabyte X570 board allows PBO curve optimisation on the 5800X3D.

The 5600X to 5800X3D system I upgraded yesterday had a 120mm AIO and to my surprise it handled the temperatures well. I was convinced I was going to be advising a new CPU cooler.

Personally I would've said a high end CPU such as the AMD Ryzen 7950X3D would have required at minimum a 240mm Rad or a decent sized tower cooler. . . . . However I see that the CPU is actually only listed as a 120W TDP and your cooler is rated as a 180W TDP, so I stand corrected and it looks like your cooler should cope perfectly fine. You learn something new everyday. :eek:
