Hi guys, I am planning on ordering this CPU

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-253-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1328

in a few hours to replace my 6000+X2, it will be going in an Asus M3N72-T Deluxe, does anyone know if it is 125w or 140w, I think the mb supports both since I flashed the bios to 1102 but I would like to know, also is there anything else I should be aware of or do before I swap them over, should I load bios defaults first ? and what is the heat sink and fan like ? the one that came with my 6000+ is quite a good one with heat pipes, is the Phenom HSF better ?

Lol made exact same upgrade.

You need to call and ask overclockers regarding the 125/140 thing you defo want the 125 version.
Your mobo will support either no doubt, it wont make a difference.
Your board seems to be am2+, so I think you will need to download latest bios that supports am3, there isnt a physical difference with the new socket, but the bios must be sorted so it can function with am3.
The stock HS and fan is okay, not great, it is an improvement over the 6000+ unless you want to overclock it will do.
I have used a zalman9500 then a lapped and pressure modded TRUE on it, the zalman is fine for anything other than larger overclocks, the TRUE required a lot of work to get right but is utterly excellent- I just cant get the chip over 43 degrees not, and 40 at stock.

Thanks for replying, I have ordered after doing a bit more research, according to the model number of the cpu it is the 125w version so that is good and I have already flashed to the 1102 bios so I am waiting to pop it in and get going, some time soon I will buy a new HSF, my friend bought an i5 bundle from oc and it came with the watercooled all in one HS, I cant remember the name now but I quite fancy one of them.

Corsair H50, I have had a good look at that, it just wasnt for me, with water and a pump in your pc there is a lot of potential for trouble, though they do seem reliable and good, they also get beaten by the best air solutions.
the zalman9500 handles the chip beautifully and is easy to install, I am selling mine, let me know if you want it.
the TRUE was an utter ballache to make good, hours of lapping, had to drill through the screw holes in a backplate, find the right screws and wingnuts but now it is an utter beauty, thin and flat copper base that I can hand adjust to give the right pressure and best of all it is 'mine' as it were- aint another heatsink like it, might later on go for a really extreme lap on it (almost direct heatpipe touch) but for now it is doing its job really really well. :-)

Here you go dude, I put the manufacure's code into google and there you have it :D
V core (V) ? 0.825 - 1.4
Maximum operating temperature (°C) ? 62
Thermal Design Power (W) ? 125

The 125W and 140W versions of the Phenom II X4 come with a decent heatsink.

Bit of thread necromancy but can you possibly tell me if this worked? I'm about to make the same upgrade and I'm being stonewalled by Asus when I ask them which CPU's work. I'm currently in a circular email correspondence with them that goes something along the lines of:

"Will a 980 work with this board?"
"Other similar processors work"
"Yeah, OK but will this one?"
"I can't see why it wouldn't"
"...but will it?"
"It's possible"

Everything I've looked at suggests it should be fine, but it's absence from the compat list and Asus's unwillingness to give me a concrete answer is making me hesitant.
